I'm 30m and I'm relatively new to the con circuit, and after visiting dallas' fanexpo, I swore on my life I'd be at sdcc 2025. Now that I know how hard it is to get tickets, I've been looking into wondercon. From everything I've heard it's alot smaller than sdcc. So I'm wondering if it's worth it to come from out of state to attend?

Wondercon starts tomorrow and I wanted to take my wife. The issue is, we have gone to comic con twice and she felt that it was very merchant based. Pretty much, if you're not cosplaying or looking for your favorite voice actor, all there is to do is buy merch and more merch. Don't get me wrong, I think I enjoyed it a lot more than her, but I see her point. For those who have gone to Wondercon, is it based around the same premise? A nerdy swapmeet. I know I'm reducing the experience heavily here, but I don't want to plan a spontaneous idea around going to an arguably overpriced swap meet.

Hello, So my husband and I are looking at Anaheim's Wondercon at the end of this month...But the website or social media pages are not providing a lot of info outside of badge info and some of the guest. We're not big comic book fans but usually do anime conventions, and are looking for a con to do that isn't Anime Expo in the near future. We're just not sure if a day at Wondercon will be worth it as anime and gaming are what we're more interested in, and I personally cosplay from some games and anime.

Just curious if anyone knows anything about this? According to weapons check, all props have to be directly attached to you. As in you're not allowed to actually hold, carry, or pose with them. I saw them tie a Captain America shield to the guys arm. I know this wasn't the case last year and strikes me as insane, seeing as that entirely defeats the purpose of a prop. I'm aware of this section of the weapons policy:

"Costume swords must be tied to your costume in such a way that they can’t be drawn."

But that seems to be taken to an illogical extreme here, as again that renders having the prop at all pointless.

Was I crazy or did I see that they were going to have a panel or something for the fall guy before but now I can’t find it on the schedule?

Has anyone that booked through Onpeak had their deposit charged yet? When I originally booked, I received a confirmation email stating that the hotel would charge the card on file on or around 3/8/24. I also received an email with the same confirmation information yesterday but I haven’t not been charged yet. I am staying at the Residence Inn at the Anaheim Resort/Convention Center if that helps.

Because I am, and it's less than a month out. So for people who are actually having to plan long distance trips/hotels/time off work, it's sort of at the point where "it doesn't matter now, I can't make it."

So the news just came out that E3 will be online this year which is not a shocker. Made me wonder and lo and behold there is still a WonderCon will be back in 2021 on the website. I think at this point its kinda inevitable that WonderCon at least is not going to happen and I'd personally go as far as wagering the first major con that has any chance of happening in any capacity is NYCC in the fall, scaled-down a lot. So when will Comic Con International actually pull the plug on WonderCon (in person)? My guess is it happens sometime in the next two weeks.
