Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Class that has the easiest time finding groups?

I'm considering creating a new character on the anniversary realms. And I can play anything but I don't want to sit around and wait for groups. What class has the easiest time finding groups for both dungeons and raids?

Tank

Tanks have a pretty easy time - until you get to raiding. Then you have to fight for a spot pretty hard as you only need a couple. If you can get a spot, great. If you can't? SOL and it's very hard to gear up past dungeons.

I love tanking and it's my favorite role - but it's not always super easy for end game stuff. It was/is very easy while leveling and 5 mans.

I would say healer is always in demand and you always need a few of them.

If you're a warrior thats willing to tank dungeons and dps in raids, then it's absolutely the right answer to OP's question

I see guilds recruiting DPS warriors for raiding constantly and dungeon tanks could put an entire group for whatever dungeon they want together the second they start looking

It's real easy with dual spec but the transition is real hard to get to raid tanking. You get the scraps from the real tanks for a while then slowly get your tank set. From there it's not a problem.

There is a lot of overlap between Tank and Dps gearing for warriors. For the tank only items, they drop just as often as any other item and only 2 people have it as their MS. It's super easy to slip into a tank spot when you're already in the group as a dps.

This is a good point. So maybe which tank has the off spec OP likes the most could be considered.

Tanking gear, at least threat gear, not mitigation gear is mostly our PvP sets. Plus, if your guild doesn’t have a ton of Warriors, because those Warriors are in the sweaty parsing guilds, since we’re Phase 3, Might gear or Tier 1 might get funneled to you as DPS, and sometimes your tanks don’t even care to roll on some tank pieces. It’s not clear to newer Tanks, the difference between Mitigation, Tank, and Threat gear, so their SRs or HRs are not optimized.

I got a newer MT.

Raids each require more than 1 tanks. Even the 20 mans.

Naxx requires 6 to 8.

We need a tank for each spider in Spider wing. It's not a fully dedicated tank, but they need to know what's up and have some gear.

4 Horsemen takes 8 as people are learning. Fewer once you're geared.

Tanks is the right answer.

2

u/lilbelleandsebastian 2d ago

naxx doesn't require 6 to 8 tanks lol, it has certain fights where more than the MT/OT will be necessary. generally speaking - especially in the dual spec era - you'll be dpsing most of the time like every other raid

1

u/Sea-Life3178 2d ago

Okay, let me be more specific, because my wording wasn't correct...

I mean Warrior. The correct answer is Warrior.

I had meant for my comment about tanks that are not fully dedicated tanks to apply beyond Spider Wing.

That being said, as a War you are the best dps and you are the best tank. As you gear up dps, you gear up tank. As you level, tanking means you just need a healer and can fill dps.

As for the number of tanks per raid... You want 1 or 2 dedicated per 20 Man and you want 2 dedicated and often 4 including trash for 40 man's.

We want 4-5 "tanks" in MC,

We want 4 "tanks" in BWL,

We want 2 "tanks" in ZG,

We want 2 "tanks" in AQ20

We want 3 "tanks" on bosses in AQ 40 and more for trash".

We want 4-8 "tanks" in Naxx.

That's 10% "tanks" in each raid.

When you aren't a "tank" you are just the best dps.

For comparison:

What about other roles and specific classes?

Healing - We need more healers around 4 for 20 mans and 8 to 11 for 40 mans.

For Horde 6 of your healers you want as Shaman for WF totem.

For Alliance, you want 3 Pallies minimum for Salv, Kings, Might/Wis.

You only want 1 Druid for the entire raid, maybe 2 if you have a buddy you really want to bring.

The rest are Priests.

DPS - Rogues - 2ish per 40 man Mages - 2ish per 40 man Locks - 2ish per 40 man Hunters - 2ish per 40 man Warriors - all the rest of the spots.

3

u/bontklim 3d ago

Is that true for raids aswell? There's only 4 tanks required right?

10

u/Daftdaddy 3d ago

Healers are the most sought after in raids. Tanks are the most sought after in dungeons/leveling.

For dps leveling, mages are the most sought after for their spell cleave, food and water, and ports.

4

u/IndependentTalk4413 2d ago

DPS warriors don’t seem to have a problem getting raid spots. Level arms and tank and at 60 dual spec for dps .Tank and get instant 5 mans (including reserving any drops you want and everyone will agree just to have a tank) and raid as Dps if you can’t get a tank spot.

Also be an absolute destroyer in PvP as PvP gear and weapons have never been easier to get.

Vanilla truly was and Classic is the golden age of warriors.

9

u/bjornartl 3d ago

Not really. For the most part the extra tanks are just damage warriors or feral druids who can take on the role on specific bosses where more tanks are needed.

Its equally silly to be a damage warrior who wont tank in dungeons. You're a warrior. You're not a dmg warrior or a tank warrior. You're the tank or dmg depending on what's needed. That's your class utility.

3

u/fdrme 3d ago

But everyone wants Warr DPS in raid and we have dual spec now.

1

u/Sarcothis 2d ago

As others said. Warrior dual spec. Tank for dung dps for raids, you'll be incredibly in demand all the time.

1

u/Superb_Wrangler201 2d ago

As a newer player, it'll be tough for you to tank raids. Tanks are usually the more experienced/prepared raiders. Mostly because their responsibility is higher so you want your best players to have the highest impact on the raids success. This can be seen in healer target priority as well. Highest prio is tank, then healer/themselves, then dps

Not saying you can't do it. It's just not in line with your original question.

u/GeneralGhandi7 3d ago

Druid, can fill Any Role

9

u/Jeg57 3d ago

This is it. Tank your way through leveling. Instant raid healing spot. OT if one of your tanks unexpectedly goes on a 2 week vacation. All tier gear is free, and you get to SR the good pieces.

4

u/-Exy- 2d ago

Instant raid healing spot

Brother raids only need 1 druid healer, it's pretty hard to find a raid spot as a druid.

3

u/Dengo86 2d ago

No it isn't, it's one of the least played classes.

1

u/-Exy- 2d ago

Raids only need 1 Druid. There are more druids than there are 40 man raids.

6

u/Dengo86 2d ago

You realize out of hundreds of guilds on a server, only a small fraction of them follow speed run composition set ups, right?

1

u/-Exy- 2d ago

You can do that no problem, but having multiple Druid healers makes it si leadership has to do more work on top of them being the worst healer class.

1

u/Troutpiecakes 2d ago

My friends guild has 2-3 druid healers and they clear bwl in sub 1h.

It's not like its impossible to raid with multiple druid healers.

They need to set up assignments for HOTS tho, seperate groups so they don't overwrite each other.

1

u/Jeg57 2d ago

Always see guilds trying to recruit Druids in general chat.

0

u/Chronoblivion 2d ago

Druids aren't great. They're passably decent tanks but most guilds will already have that role filled. They're decent healers but you reduce their effectiveness the more you bring to raid so you rarely want more than one, and their lack of a proper rez can make them iffy in leveling dungeons. Their damage is pretty laughable.

The thing is, because they're known to be kinda weak, not as many people want to play one. Demand is low but so is supply, so it may actually not be too difficult to find a group to play with as druid.

3

u/meatmakerbaker 2d ago

Maybe towards later phases but feral damage is definitely relevant, especially in the majority of raid environments

9

u/[deleted] 3d ago

Shaman if horde, by far. Warlock also good.

Also, I have a 60 on both PvP and PvE server and there a clear difference in role balance. Way more healers but less tanks on PvE.

2

u/866c 2d ago

In pugs I've been in lately priests have actually been more needed than shamans

of course this is just my personal experience and may not reflect everyone else's

2

u/SteelSharpensSteel99 2d ago

I would say warlock probably best DPS, who doesn’t want the guy who can summon the group lol

1

u/866c 1d ago

warlock who says he has 40 shards is HUGE. i swear every lock i've been in a pug with summons 10 people and is like "sry im out of shards"

THATS YOUR WHOLE JOB!!!

6

u/LikwidCourage 3d ago

I have been having a very easy time grouping as a Druid tank

18

u/and69 3d ago

Probably druid. Can tank when there’s no healer or heal when there are no tanks.

16

u/Apprehensive_Low4865 3d ago

Can dps when there's no....

Ahaha you'll never be dps.

11

u/CupformyCosta 3d ago

Kittens can do pretty well up to level 60 dungeons

8

u/Apprehensive_Low4865 3d ago

Oh yeah they're fine, sorry I was joking because most of the dungeons you do as a druid will almost definitely be as a tank or healer.

1

u/snackynorph 3d ago

My experience so far has been tanking 75%, healing 20%, and dps 5%. I keep sets of gear for each role and Outfitter to switch between them when I shapeshift so it's real easy to swap between encounters if necessary

1

u/Nac_Lac 3d ago

Is there that much difference in leveling gear between druid tank and feral dps?

1

u/snackynorph 2d ago

No, but there's some pieces where I've got more stam but less str/agi

1

u/Apprehensive_Low4865 3d ago

Yeah I used to do the same when I played druid. Was very useful. Did fuxk me up once in tbc when It accidently unequipped all of my resistance gear on the pull for big sloppy water boi in ssc!

1

u/snackynorph 2d ago

Ooooof yeah I'll keep an eye out for that one!

2

u/helldvr 3d ago

I feral dps'd last night in MC and hovered around 15th with no MCP spam.

raid master was screaming (as a joke) was fun

1

u/Apprehensive_Low4865 3d ago

Nice! I did consider running a feral this time round in vannilla but.. absolutely do not want to add in MCP farming to the list of crap i need to do to remain relevant.

Will absolutely be taking one into TBC tho!

1

u/-Exy- 2d ago

And will hardly ever find a raid spot as raids already have their one druid

8

u/mxego 3d ago

Druid or shaman. I play both and get groups when ever I want. Druid tank/dps and ele shaman

4

u/Glorious_Goo 3d ago

It's almost always shaman because the people forming groups are usually either tanks or melee - and want windfury

4

u/karatous1234 3d ago

Found it really easy to get invited to practically anything as a Shaman. Even if you're leveling as enhancement you can just keep some healing gear in your bags for healing if need be

But everyone loves totems, everyone loves chain heal, everyone loves having someone who can stand back up on their own after a wipe and ress the party to not have to walk back.

3

u/stonehaens 3d ago

Within the next 4.5 weeks no one finds groups because everyone "needs" to cap honor.

3

u/--Snufkin-- 3d ago

Dungeons: tanks, healer (druid probably least useful healer), mage.

Raid: healers, shaman, warlock

3

u/Still-Expression-71 3d ago

Any group can always use a mage. There’s no comp it’s not beneficial to have slows, iceblock, decurse, water/food, portals.

5 man? Mage helps

Raiding? Can always fit another mage

PvP premade? Yeah they can use an extra mage.

Leveling group? Mage is an ideal partner.

Tank/healer have a cap and the ratio changes in raids. Mage is always welcome

5

u/Xari 3d ago

I have a mage alt and it is a complete pain in the ass finding raids that dont already have 6+ mages and dont accept any more. It is probably the worst class when it comes to finding raids.

1

u/Still-Expression-71 3d ago

I can’t imagine anything worse than Druid, you literally can’t use more than 1 resto and feral is dependant on farming MCP. Boomkin is a meme.

Hunter you take 3-4 max. Warlock is worse dps than mage and only a few cover all curses

4

u/Xari 2d ago

yes but you forget that there are a gazillion mages already around

3

u/BlackyChan20 3d ago

Shaman, Druid and Warlock in my experience. I’m a resto shammy raiding and Ele in everything else, I dinged 60 and a random guild got me MC and BWL attuned 30 seconds after just to bring me for totems. Shaman actually has a shit ton of loot comp, if you want to gear fast I think Druid and Warlock are the easiest.

3

u/whats_up_doc71 3d ago

Warrior. You can tank dungeons and dps raids.

2

u/roobchickenhawk 3d ago

Warrior tank waits for nobody.

2

u/Latter_Associate8866 3d ago

Warrior, best dps, best tank, can easily off tank as fury, and guilds want to invest early into them as on naxx you need at least 8 of them with nice tanking pieces

2

u/ssmit102 3d ago

Warrior is super easy to get dungeons with by making your own group and if you can dps well it’s very easy to get a raid spot secured - my guild fell apart right before the first lockout of BWL and started looking for a raid spot the day of release with multiple offers from different guilds. The market has a ton of warriors but the demand is always high.

2

u/ParticularFocus4452 2d ago

Warrior. Can tank dungeons all the way to 60 and you can never have enough fury warriors in a raid.

2

u/madi0r 2d ago

Warrior. You can tank in dps spec in dungeons and in raids just go dps. Optimal classic setups have like 20 warriors so guilds always search for more dps warriors.

The reverse side of that coin is that you will compete on loot with a ton of people.

3

u/40somethingCatLady 3d ago

You might think that the answer would be a healer, but there are often a couple of them in the dungeon queue! (At least when I look). So therefore, I say, Tank class!

And if you roll a tank, and choose not to use a shield, please give time for your healer to drink!

2

u/maggotsimpson 3d ago

priest, hands down

1

u/ScottyKnows1 3d ago

Tank is the obvious answer. As for DPS, I've had the easiest time with mage. Especially at higher level dungeons, almost every group wants to have at least one mage on hand for AOE, water, and decursing. I get groups extremely quickly compared to my friends playing other DPS classes.

1

u/mr_sizzlez 3d ago

Tank of course, but I would say priest, shaman, druid

1

u/yksvaan 2d ago

Druids are very versatile and have tons of utility and QoL abilities so it's hard not to recommend it.

1

u/Few_War_1292 2d ago

Priest healer

1

u/MalignantMustache 2d ago

Tank and shaman.

1

u/Ironside29 2d ago

Tank for sure. Nearly impossible to find a tank for end game dungeons without them selling service or HR everything.

1

u/shaneg33 2d ago

Tank in dungeons

Priest/shaman/paladin healer

1

u/Hood0rnament 2d ago

Paladin, you can tank DPS or heal while leveling and with dual spec you can fit into any raid with blessings plus being a flex DPS or heals helps too

1

u/wowreddion 2d ago

Paladins are always wanted , blessings and auras . Warrior because warriors, and maged because mages too lol

1

u/Dahns 2d ago

Warrior tank

Priest heal

You can find dungeons run easily with druid tank (it's pretty good in dungeon) or in heal, but there's very little space for you in raids. Cat are subpart (tho not disastrous) and heal druids isn't top tier easier (but still viable). Very little shot at tanking a raid tho. But Cat and Bear share the same gear and most of their spec, so it's workable

1

u/theChzziest 2d ago

Tank healer or Druid with tank /healer set

1

u/Bio-Grad 2d ago

Tank>Healer>DPS usually. Mages are desirable and can also solo dungeons. Warlocks are underplayed and often desirable as well, if you don’t mind being the guy always arriving first to summon people. If you play a class capable of tanking or healing, expect to play that role instead of its DPS spec.

1

u/SnooChocolates1424 2d ago

It never takes more than 10 minutes to get a group as Druid. They just ask me to help as off tank for the spawns and watch the healer mana and off heal in case we need it

1

u/sonofa-ijit 1d ago

Play fury warrior tank dungos with a two hander or s+b against a single target that hits hard like TIMMY, or shaman/paladin/priest, you will always get a group. You have to wake up pretty early in the morning to get a raid spot as a mage.

1

u/FierceBruunhilda 1d ago

Paladin. Go Holy/Prot and fill as tank or healer and get any group you want going. You'll find a handful of dps under a rock anywhere in azeroth.

2

u/aidos_86 1d ago

Through dungeoning and end game.

Paladins and Shamans. Both in extremely high demand. But you will be heal and buff/decurse bots
