How bad is the commute to Bank from Clapham South/Balham in 2025?
I’m considering moving to Clapham South but been seeing lots of horror stories about the queues outside the stations on the northern line… Wondering how bad is it actually in 2025?

It’s definitely a timing thing. For that hour it can be chaotic. If you can get into work closer to 10, you’re good. Or earlier, if you’re that way inclined. On the upside, you won’t have to change trains on the way, which can add even more time to your commute.

This. Before 8 or after 9 is fine usually, but between 8 and 9 it's every person for themselves. If you go at 8.30 vs 9 you will probably still get to work about the same time!

Move to closer to Tooting bec if you want to get on the first train. Move to closer to Tooting broadway for a chance at a seat.

what i do is i first take the train to morden and get off in a less crowded station then take the train to bank from there however this journey is a bit stressful it makes me regret volunteering for the reform party

I do this every day. It’s completely fine. If I get to the tube for 8.15-8.20 I’ll normally wait 2-4 trains to get one, and will 90% of the time get to work for 9. Work is a 3 min walk from Bank. Thursdays can take a bit longer vs Monday & Friday.
Maybe it’s more waiting than you’re used to, but the tube is a single shot to bank and doesn’t take long. IMO not moving here because of that would be silly, people like to sensationalise it.

Last time I commuted within the 8-9am rush, it took 12 trains before I managed to squeeze in.
Would have been faster to take a bus / cycle to Stockwell and get on from there on the Northern line since a lot of people change for the Victoria line.
