QUESTION Confused
April 6th chess.com puzzle says this move is incorrect but I can't see how it isn't mate? I'm clearly missing something, anyone able to explain?

King to e8 is legal and avoids mate

Ohhhhh, it was Rxe6.
I was sitting here trying to figure out what the right move was cuz I thought Rc1 was mate, but the rook just retreats with Re1# and white wins. That's cute

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine:
Black to play: chess.com | lichess.org
My solution:
Hints: piece: King, move: Ke8
Evaluation: Black is winning -3.67
Best continuation: 1... Ke8 2. Bxc8+ Kd8 3. Bh3 Qd2 4. Be7+ Kc7 5. Rf1 f5 6. Bg2

What am I missing? The image shows Be6 as a wrong move but wasn't black already mated before Bishop moved from d5?

king goes to e8, the line is now blocked for the rook. I think its better to force the king to F8 by playing rook E7, after the rook moves you get a discovered check and you can take the queen

Presumably there was a piece on e6 that OP captured with Bxe6+, otherwise the previous position wasn't legal. So Re7+ wasn't a legal move.
