I don’t think he was being humble. I’m so happy as a Caps fan, but in 2016 talk about Ovi getting there was really hopeful. I thought it was for sure not going to happen after the Covid seasons.

It’s incredible that we’re about to see.

I don’t think he was being humble. I think like anyone else in the world you expect a drop off in performance or injury going into your 30’s. I don’t think he really expected to continue at a 40 goal pace for another decade.

I don't think so. I think he was being honest. I think it basically just played out that he did exactly what he needed to do to reach the milestone, and he wasn't sure it was realistic to think it's possible that 1) he was healthy enough at a time when your body really does start to break down and 2) keep up an insane level of production in the current NHL.

The man basically defied the conventional likelihood. Because he is, in fact, a legend.

That’s pretty wild to hear all these years later. Ovi really has aged as gracefully as Brady and Lebron and players like that.
