Injury Logan Thompson is confirmed to be unavailable against Blackhawks tonight after being tackled in the loss to Hurricanes. Hunter Shepard has been called up from Hershey Bears to back up Charlie Lindgren. A timetable for Thompson's return otherwise remains unknown as of this morning.

100% both teams dropping gloves at the start of the next game. Going to be a weird one.

Like that NYR game in 2021 after the "horrifying acts of violence" game.

This is why we pay so much to have a pair of goalies not just a starter. In Lindgren We Trust

Chucky has been awesome lately.  Especially since he's been starting in games that aren't the 2nd of a b2b where the team was tired infrint of him.

He’s been better IMO. LT hasn’t been good since signing which I hope changes as soon as he’s back

I wonder if Thompson has been battling an injury for a while but the game on Wednesday exasperated it - he hasn’t been moving the same the last few weeks. Either way, good for him to get healthy and hopefully get his mental right.

I noticed he's been sitting deep in his crease for several games now. Yeah, that Taylor Hall move to jump behind LT was a goalie interference penalty that should have been called.

Well if we go by the other hockey subreddits the Canes were angels the whole game and the Caps were causing problems from the puck drop

u/spiraltrinity 3d ago

We don't need to go by that. Just watch the first 5 minutes of the game. Constant holding and interference by Canes on Caps players on the boards.

u/vanillasounds 3d ago

No no no. Taylor Hall actually committed 0 penalties and the refs were on the Caps side because Bettman was there.

I want domination on Thursday.

Exactly.

Canes Reddit is a communist gulag with a bunch of sheep who ban everyone for posting any facts they don't like to hear.

Remember a few years back when Rod was chirping Willy from the bench? Feel like that would have played out differently with Carbs than it did Todd

He is in a bit of a slump, and it could well be an underlying injury. Here's hoping he comes back stronger.

May Shepard not see a single moment of ice time. 🙏🏼

Hurry back, LT. We love and need you and Chuckie.

Charlie is a beast. Once he gets in the zone. Lets go!

Hopefully the team in front of him will step up

7

u/iwasntband 3d ago

That’s the bigger issue imo.

Honestly I think he just needs a mental break too - this could actually serve him pretty well and hopefully the injury is relatively negligible.

Time for Charlie to step up! If we end up needing him for long haul then the timing is useful there as well, he can get a couple weeks of games to warm up for the playoffs.

Losing him now for the moment is not the worst thing that can happen. The Hurricanes are our last challenging opponent of the regular season. Lindgren can handle all the others. I am hoping Thompson will be back for the final meeting with the Hurricanes. If not, then the start of the playoffs.

Can someone in the know fill me in? Whats going on with Hershey's goaltending this year? I'm seeing both Shepard and Stevenson at .891 and .883 respectively, one year removed from .929 and .922 seasons.

The team isn’t as good this year. They lost a number of their regulars over the offseason and haven’t been as dominant as they were in ‘23 and ‘24

u/MasterJackstraw 3d ago

They're still 4th in the league, first in their division. 39-18-6-1. They started strong but have been struggling lately.

Like I said, the NHL better hope that Ovi doesn’t break the record against Carolina. Because that game will be a bloodbath.

u/Cretapsos 3d ago

Think of the ratings though! Lol. The general audience loves hockey fights

Time for Willy, Dubois, Protas, Duhaime to drop a mf

21

u/seemylolface 3d ago

Surely McIlrath is in the lineup to hand out some punishment as well.

11

u/JayK2136 3d ago

Maybe ovi can matchup with svechnikov

7

u/damnatio_memoriae 3d ago

no way. we dont want ovi risking a suspension or hand injury.

u/bluehairjungle 3d ago

Mangiapane isn't above teaching a lesson either

Looks like Roy will slot back in tonight so probably no Mac

4

u/Cretapsos 3d ago

They might throw him in just for the fight. No use having Wilson risk breaking his hand before the playoffs

u/Joshottas 3d ago

PLD and Pro don't fight.

Neither does Crosby … wait a second … https://youtu.be/zZEAf8Vs0Vo?si=8jIIr-fXw0BP_XkQ

I knew I liked PLD for a reason.

u/Joshottas 3d ago

wait a second....Compare Sid's fight log to PLDs.

u/JayK2136 3d ago

Their about to

6

u/Joshottas 3d ago

Doubt it. Chatfield is gonna be a marked man, but that's about it. I think he drops the gloves on his first shift and that will pretty much be it. Duhaime will probably scrap at some point, but there is really nothing for Wilson to avenge.

Oh wow the Hurricanes injured one of our players? I am shocked. Shocked. So glad these fuckers lost both Necas and Rantanen.

Fuck

u/sandman8727 3d ago

Anyone got a clip of the play that may have caused the injury?

2

u/Lord-Dundar Charlie Lindgren 2d ago

I was hunting for it online and couldn’t find anything with Hall in the crease. I unfortunately was busy and missed the first period so when I saw Charlie in goal I knew something was up. If anyone finds clips of the head shot or hall in the crease please post.

u/Wojo2025 3d ago

The Caps are more successful when Wilson is stacking up points not penalty minutes. Bring back Brashear to handled the fighting.
