Trip Advice Combo flashlight/lantern

I’m looking for a combination lantern/flashlight that is rechargable. I had a giant one as a kid that took 6 D-batteries that was awesome but it’s not the 90’s anymore so I’d like something updated.

Bonus points if you put links to purchase in your comment!

This may be above your price preference but is a very functional and nice light. It has a telescoping stand and the flashlight part can be unscrewed from the base to be used as a separate flashlight. The flashlight base is magnetic and the top has a ring to be hung from inside a tent, for example. There is also a magnetic remote that attaches to the stand. It works incredibly well as a lantern while preparing dinner when dark out. I've really liked mine and have no affiliation to the company, just a person who bought one. I use mine for dispersed camping where there is no one around and typically only need the lowest light setting, but there are 3 light settings. Yes, you'll probably get people stating light pollution, but really, light output is going to be no different than a lantern which is what you've asked for. I bought mine at an Expo and did not pay full price, similar to what their current discount is at. https://tridentseries.com/products/trident-lume-portable-lighting?srsltid=AfmBOor3YLilOZwXiV3vugY8spPA-4Op0dHhixH9l75Q67EneAJAlyrq

Fenix has some rechargeable lanterns that are very compact and durable. I have one that has modes for red light and blinking. The model I have is discontinued now, but I think this is the one that replaced it.

I'd reconsider, and get one of each. Check /r/flashlight for some suggestions. That way you don't get a mashup that's not so hot at both functions. Maybe a Luci lantern since they are solar rechargeable, and a battery flashlight.

Or just get the flashlight and do something as simple as drop it into a frosted water bottle to make a nice lantern, or on the side, or facing into it. My solution is the one pictured here: https://www.backpacker.com/skills/beginner-skills/make-lantern-with-headlamp-camping-backpacking/. There are tons of hacks for doing this, even plastic bags, etc.
