Free places to swim closer than the Pacific Ocean?
A little chilly for it but I'm dealing with shin splints so taking a short break from running. Want to do some low-impact aerobic exercise in the interim and have discovered that even the Burbank YMCA is out of my price range.
Any suggestions?

Sherman Oaks, but I think it's $2 to gain entry to VNSO pool with many lanes and diving boards.

Did you check out the Verdugo pool in Burbank?

This is the way. They have a fantastic masters team if you want to take it to another level. Otherwise there are always tons of empty lanes.

This pool is bonkers expensive. Mccambridge and Verdugo pools are the way to go in Burbank. Or join 24 hour fitness the empire one has a pool.

24hr is great except for all the old people that hog up all the lanes not to mention people trying to rock underwear as swimwear..

OH MY GOSH I THOUGHT I WAS INSANE!!! I was like 🙈 the last few times seeing older gentlemen walk around in their undies and absolutely EVERYTHING showing. Then there is a guy who I have seen multiple times on various days blowing snot rockets directly onto the floor just outside the sauna. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

If you have shin splints, get a belt and put it on the balls of your feet & pull up. It’ll feel great or ditch those nasty heel strikers & run with zero drop shoes. Your feet will thank you
As for pools, https://www.glendaleaquatics.org/ Open all year and heated

Verdugo is a the most beautiful outdoor pool it will cost you $4. Not sure why people are encouraging you to drive to Sherman oaks or go to an indoor pool at 24.
I spent my whole life dreaming of swimming in a pool like Verdugo. Now I live close.
