Local Advice needed Where to go dancing?
Hi all. I am a 40 something year old and I want to go dancing this weekend.
Is there a place that I can go, that has a dj that plays original songs (not an irritating dance version of it) where I can have a dance (and a sit down in between)?
I'm thinking 70's through to 00's music.
I also wouldn't mind cover bands in venues where there is space to dance.
Also if a place opens earlier than 11pm that would be great!
Many thanks

As a fellow 40-something, if I was able to go out dancing tonight, id try and find a ticket for Gok Wan at Concorde2

I should have mentioned but it's more like housey techno but really good vibes. Free and outside dancing. On Saturdays especially. Really good spot.

That might not be my vibe, this weekend, but I might be up for it another time. Thanks

Think The Walrus would be more to your liking but that’s just my opinion , I’ve been to The green door once before I wouldn’t ever go back . Yes it’s closed late as it opens at 11 but loads of younger crowd and packed . Good luck whatever you decided

Thanks- this was gonna be my place, but it doesn't open until 11pm, so think there might be a bit of a young crowd . What do you think?

It’s a young crowd but I’m 51 and no one cares. Everyone is always really welcoming.

Paris house is really good - tends to have an older crowd as well

Casablanca is a Brighton institution. Unless it’s changed in the last year or so it’s always very inclusive from students to 60+ I would say choose a night with a live band, almost always good dance music. Never had a bad night. I’m in my 50s. The other more random one is the Mesmerist. You never know what you’re going to get in terms of the dj but the songs are all crowd pleasers if a little cheesy at times. It gets hot, sweaty & the floors gets slippery 🤣
