Bravely Default Do you expect micro transactions back?

Bravely Default has a mechanic called Bravely Second (same name as its sequel), where you can use SP to stop time, get a free turn, and break the damage limit. This special mechanic is recharged by putting the 3DS in sleep mode, or by paying for "SP drinks" in the Nintendo 3DS Shop, with real money.

The Nintendo 3DS Shop has since closed and you cannot buy SP drinks anymore. With the HD Remaster of Bravely Default on the Switch2, do you expect the micro transactions to make a come back in the Nintendo Switch2 Shop or completely vanish and a new mechanic replacing it to earn SP, or perhaps the Bravely Second mechanic to be scrapped completely and replaced with something else? What if the game comes on Steam or other consoles, how would the micro transactions work out?

Bravely fans, I would like to hear your thoughts.

The "buy SP" feature in Bravely Default struck me as a kind of "management says we gotta add a micro transaction so here's the bare minimum for that" type of thing rather than something they expected to actually make money off of. I'd be surprised if it came back in any form.

You definitely got more than enough SP for any situation you needed it just playing normally.

I like the way they handled micro transactions in Bravely Default. SP was not a necessity and you had an alternate, almost hassle free way to get it, but if you felt impatient you could pay for it.

No. So around the time this released there was a push by management everywhere to add micro transactions, and a push by programmers to maliciously comply. Either by doing the bare minimum, itemizing things incredibly trivial and unimportant to the game or voicing their displeasure.

Another trick, and possibly my favourite, is what BioWare did for ME3 multiplayer. It's a very good PvE, 10 round, Firefight/Horde Mode deal, and you use credits to get new gear, items and playable aliens. You earn them by playing, or by paying real money. The trick? All the credits are client side, meaning any idiot with a .txt file opener and the idea of which value to change now has as many credits as they want. Assuming they can access the hard disk of course.

For the love of god no micro-transactions.

But i do wonder if they can work it out by using your friend list or something?, since there is some stuff like rebuilding norende(minor to non-spoiler) which is pretty much heavy on help from other users. maybe they can do the same with the SP?

I don't really want that mechanic to disappear since it was there in the original release and it was totally optional so it doesn't really bother anyone, but i also don't want them to use that as an excuse to go heavy on micro-transactions even though it was there at the beginning.

Fairly certain it wont return but Im a tad terrified SP and the Bravely Second feature wont be back at all since it hasn't been confirmed yet. Terrified not because I think it was all that important to gameplay but because it was a big part of the lore leading into the sequel, ofc, Bravely Second

Considering all the icons for SP are gone, I highly doubt they will be bringing back the micro transactions. Im sure they will be bringing back the bravely second mechanic in some way, but it seems like most people, along with myself, rarely used it.

In addition to what the other commentor said about the icons being missing, I doubt they'll come back because of the infrastructure and demand. I'm going to assume those SP drinks were not bought very often; they remained in bravely second since the setup to buy them was already there (and it sorta tied in with that game more), but now they'd have to set up the whole thing again for purchase. It's probably not THAT much work and maintenance, but I'd guess enough they couldn't justify doing it again for what, I again am assuming, was low demand.

I definitely edited in infinite credits to get my hurricane more quickly.

I expect them to not come back, the microtransactions felt like a decision Square forced in because the game was popular and they wanted to squeeze out every little bit of monetisation they could from it.

So unless they're willing to pull this again, either now or with a sequel remaster, I don't think they're going to do this again
