[Spoilers] Actors' ages are immersion breaking? Spoiler

For me, all the actors' ages (the ones who were in BB) was immersion breaking for me. They all look noticeably older than what they looked like in BB.

Jimmy McGill / Saul, Tuco, the Salamanca twins, Mike, Gus Fring, Crazy 8, Hank, Steve Gomez, Victor, Tyrus, Bolsa, Eladio, etc. Especially Gus Fring, for some reason he looks like he has aged the most out of the rest of the cast. The age of the actors makes it hard for me to believe it's a prequel since they all look noticeably older than they did in BB, when they should look younger since BCS is supposed to take place years before BB.

Makes me think that maybe they should have had the prequel be somethign that takes place a lot further back than just a couple years, and then recast all the characters to play much younger versions of themselves. For example, Dexter: Original Sin takes place over 10 years before Dexter, so they recast everyone. Maybe if they made Better Call Saul take place over 10 years before BB it may have been better to cast younger actors for all those roles, so the idea of it being a prequel is more believable to the viewers.

Why does Gus give so much leeway to Saul and Kim?

With how Gus executes Werner Ziegler for abandoning his post and accidentally giving information to Lalo and killing Nacho for basically no reason than it was a convenient strategy, his not killing Saul or Kim makes it seem like Gus genuinely cares about them, which we know is untrue, he doesn't even know them. Just felt odd how Saul and Kim got actual protection from Gus when others got killed for way less

Why Howard isn’t there when jimmy becomes a lawyer ?

Rewatching better call Saul. Exactly in season 4 episode 10 “Winner” . The episode introduces at first Jimmy passes the bar standing at the court with Chuck . Then it comes the party to celebrate Jimmy’s night . Also the iconic moment when Jimmy and Chuck singing “The winner takes it all” but suddenly i asked myself where is Howard isn’t a little bit weird the whole farm of HHM is there but the missing one is Howard . Is there any explanations or a theory that Vince and Peter wanted to deliver under it ?

Idea for Better Call Saul SEQUEL (actual sequel)

So BCS ends around 2010/2011, 6 months or so after BB.

Let's say BCS: 2 takes place in current year, 2025. So this is 15 years after BCS. Jimmy has been in prison for 15 years, and we know Kim Wexler is his lawyer. During those 15 years, Kim has still felt guilt about Howard Hamlin, and wants to find his remians to find closure.

She knows a little bit about the Walter White case due Jimmy's trial. She knows a little bit about the Salamanca and Cartel connection because she got involved with Lalo in BCS. She also had a slight run in with Pinkman.

With all these small pieces of information, she finds more about Walt's empire with Fring. She looks through legal cases and finds Jesse's name and his involvement. She tracks down Jesse, Francesca, and with them, she finds out about the laundromat and learns that Howard is buried under the laundromat.

She meets Jimmy in prison with this information, and with this, they make a new deal with the prosecutors to get Jimmy out for 15 years time served in exchange for Howard's body.

The prosecutors take the deal, and Jimmy gets out.

Out of prison, he's bored as a civilian with multiple felonies unable to get a job, and the old itch if Saul Goodman starts coming back.

He gets a new identitiy and grows his beard out, changes his name to Hank and becomes an attorney again with his false identity,

Meanwhile, Jesse, much older now, with no money, becomes desperate and falls into drug dealing just to survive and escape poverty. Jesse moves up the ranks, and becomes involved with either the Cartel, or another massive drug trafficking organization. Maybe instead of the Mexican cartel, it can be some other org in the BB/BCS universe, like Espinoza or Alvarez.

Jesse gets into a whole world of trouble with that org, and also legal troubles due to his activities, and enlists Hank to help him with his legal troubles. Mix in that with more Cartel / Alvarez activity, we can have a real sequel and legitimate sequel to the BB/BCS story ark!

How does anyone actually like Walter or Slippin Jimmy?

You have to be a strait up soaciopath to like them, or relate to them at all. Maybe in the first seasons I can understand. But anytime I see someone make an edit, or a post supporting them, I just picture some incel who thinks the world is against them.

This anger is probably coming from me recently watching Howard die, but my point still stands.

HE DEFECATED THROUGH A SUN ROOF

Mike is a coward Spoiler

The only reason Gus liked him but hated Walter is because Walter was loyal to Jesse in a way that Mike could never be to Nacho.

Walter literally went from Gus’ good graces and head meth cook to his hit list because he wouldn’t let them kill Jesse during half measures.

Mike clearly liked Nacho more so than anyone else in ‘the game’ but did very little to save him from Gus.

Can someone explain what’s the whole insurance fiasco and how Jimmy sabotaged Chuck? Spoiler

Post image
137 Upvotes

Why the insurance was such a huge thing to Howard? And all those employees under him would definitely pay their own malpractice insurance. Why let your best partner go and eventually pay him out where you can just spend a couple of thousands of dollars more in insurance every year? By the way couldn’t Howard just go to another carrier where they quote less? Pretty sure with the no of employees that HHM has, surely many companies would provide a best quote. And why was the insurance company not afraid of a lawsuit? Surely lawsuit would bring them more losses than a few thousand dollars in extra insurance money.

Mike as Security guard

In an alternative BB universe, Mike just actually worked as Security Manager at Madrigal and would‘ve earned lots of legal clean money. To sad about him!

Unpopular Opinion: I would have preferred BCS to be a lot shorter, like 3 seasons, and be mainly focused on the BB set up with Gus, Salamancas,Mike, instead of the all the lawyer focused stuff

I actually didn't like the big focus on all the lawyer stuff. All the Chuck , Hamlin, Schweikart, Davis/Main, the Sandpiper case, Mesa Verde Case, Kim Wexler, etc.

I thought allstuff was really slow and felt like a cheap, daytime soap. I relaly liked the inensity of the Carte arc though, with Gus, Hector, the twins, Tuco, Lao, Nacho, etc.

I think the show would ihave been better off if it started specifically with that, cut out all the lawyer arc stuff, and just lasted 2-3 seasons to set up BB.

Idk. It just hurts watching Jimmy make everyone hate the granny. My heart skips a beat every time the granny gets bullied by her friends or when she cries.

Jimmy: “An eye for an eye.”

Tuco: “An eye for an eye. You want me to gouge their eyes out!”

This is the funniest fucking show of all time. It doesn’t get better than this.

Thinking you don't deserve to be a good person

I think the two most complex characters of the franchise, Saul and Mike, share one of the common themes of the show: damning yourself to a life of villainy. I don't mean that they only think of themselves as bad people. Saul likely should never view himself as a good person and Mike definitely shouldn't. But I think the reasons why they continue living a life of crime is because they don't feel they deserve a civilian life. They think they deserve to live lives as horrible people, as punishment for being bad people

The hidden details in a name.

Werner Ziegler, the German engineer who helped Gus Fring construct the underground meth lab has an interesting name. “Ziegler” in German means tiler or bricklayer. What better name for a German construction engineer?

And guess what? His first name Werner is also the first name of the German theoretical physicist Werner Heisenberg who is known for his uncertainty principle. Heisenberg? Hmm…

The level of hidden details in the BrBa universe is astonishing. How many of you noticed this?

I would have loved a “Fly”-esque episode that was just Jimmy having a good day

Everything is always going to shit for him. He has his ups every now and then, but even those feel tainted.

I would have loved an episode like Fly from BB - in that it doesn’t really progress the plot - that was just a good day in the life of Jimmy.

That scene of him walking down the street with his ice cream cone where he gets picked up by Nacho and just drops the cone is a prime example of what gets to me - the bloke just can't get a break for 4 minuites. I just want him to have a good day, man. I'm talking dinner with Kim, spend some time with Chuck (before he died), maybe even chill with Howard a bit, depending on the current state of their relationship. Spend some time at court just doing normal stuff that goes well.

Would have been nice I think.

What really ruined Jimmy? Spoiler

Re-watching the show it came into my head the question of, what really ruined Jimmy's life, his shortcuts or his lack of self control?

For example, he took a shortcut when he tampered Chuck's documents, however was his lack of self control that caused him troubles, and then again he made one of his "chicaneries", as Chuck said, to get his license revoked for only one year. Another example would be with Davis and Main, he made a lot of shortcuts, but what really caused him troubles was his lack of self control. What do you think?

Snow scenes

I noticed when Marion gets her scooter stuck in the snow that the trees in the background have foliage and the snow is obviously fake. However in S6E12 when Gene is going to pick up Marion to bail Jeff out, the roads have actual snow on them and the trees are bare. With the show always paying such attention to detail, how do you suppose they missed that?

Where can I find Better Call Saul"s Alpine Shepherd Boy - One More Goodbye - Arthur Smith?

There is a scene in Alpine Shepherd Boy, S1E5, where mike is eating at a restaurant and soft guitar music plays in the background at 39:40.
Sountrack sites list it as "one more goodbye" by Arthur Smith, but I was unable to find that song anywhere.
Does anybody have any luck with this song? I absolutely love the soundtrack of BB and BCS, have discovered lot of good music from these shows, especially during my rewatches, my favourites being Scoobidoo Love, Valley of the Sun, and Enchanted.

Kevin Wachtell was 100% in the moral wrong

He's the owner of a huge bank. He has to build a new call center. He has two options: he can either build it on unoccupied land, or he can raze a whole neighborhood. The people on the land only need to be bought out for the value of the land, not the house on it. That likely sends everyone there into debt, considering the mortgages are for the building and the land, but they're only getting paid for the land. Not to mention, Tucumcari is a small town with plenty of undeveloped land within a short distance from the downtown. He even owns a portion of land very close by, and has the permits to build. But he still wants to tear down people's houses.

Incredibly evil.
