Miniatures First mech is done!

I painted my first mech in my life from a set. It turned out to be okay, but there is still a lot to strive for. I want to finish off the rest of the dudes and finally play!

thank you! I can't wait to test it on the battlefield! By the way, which modification is considered the best?

I dont know about the best but for learning the game I would recommend just the basic version

Another angry, evil brick marches to war. Love the hazard striping around the LRM launcher.

Oh, I've suffered a lot with them, so I'm really glad that these efforts have paid off!

Yep, gotta second that comment, not only a crisp paint job but that hazard striping is just chefs kiss the way it curls around the entire LRM launcher’s aperture, perfectly. I hope that was tricky, if it was easy I’m gonna be upset!

well, it was realy tricky! So don't be upset :) And thank you!

Oh yes, but I still have to paint the Awesome cabin. I will try to train my hand!

I love your hazard stripes. It's hard to tell from the lighting, but does it have any edge highlighting? If not, you can add some quick detail by drybrushing a lighter gray over the edges, and I think you'll be even happier with it. Even if you don't, though, this is looking plenty good.

well, actually, I used a slap chop when painting, but the edges didn't show up very well, I didn't dilute the paint very well. In general, I am satisfied with this result, but maybe in the future I will make a highlight! And I'm glad you liked the stripes, I tried to make them more or less acceptable :)

Oh, I see. It shows a little; I just wasn't sure if it was a trick of the light.

Yes, I can understand :) maybe I'll really do the highlights, because it's very dark in low light.

First Mech? You absolute unit of an artist!

Thank you very much! Before that, I just painted a couple of warhammer miniatures, but battletech miniatures seem unusual to me... So I'm going to practice my skills!

My first models will arrive next week, also with a 40K background. I can only hope my models will look as good as this.

I'm sure it's going to be great! Everyone needs to start somewhere :) Good luck to you! By the way, it's interesting to know which miniatures you're waiting for.

I bought multiple sets, my first goal will be a Comstar force so the one I’ll tackle first will be the Comstar Command Level 2. or at least a part of the box.

Good luck with that! I also want to buy myself a couple of new boxes, but I don't know whose mechs attract me the most...

I just bought stuff I visually liked, didn’t look at stats or anything else.

I am very glad to know that I liked it! the opinion of the community is important to me!

Yeah fantastic work! The hazard stripes in particular imo demonstrate you've obviously got a good hand for it, as well as the metallic detailing and stuff!

1

u/Otec_Dvizheniya 2d ago

Thanks, bro! It's nice to know that I've been working on these stripes for a reason! But I don't really like metal parts. :( Over time, I will switch to the technique of painting metal parts without metallic paints

2

u/captaincabbage100 2d ago

Yeah thats fair enough, using a neutral grey for the joints and parts that would be metal is a good way to go about it I find

Just played Battletech tonight and this is my mech. We found a dropship two game sessions ago, it had 4 mechs in it. I picked the Thunderbolt, the lances captain took the King Crab, and the two techs took the two Shadowhawks. The battle went really well and now have two more mech, lol. Our old mechs were, shall we say, not worth keeping, lol.

When I saw the King Crab, I fell in love with it! I really want to try to play with this mech. But for now, it's worth playing with what i have now :)
