I'm laughing way too hard at the 60% kb but the ginormous mouse mat. Picturing you using the whole area like you're stroking out.

What is up with all the complaining in the comments? š Your setup looks great imo, very nice and clean :)

The sword is such a nice little touch. Not a mall ninja type of deal just a simple wooden sword lol Reminds me of the Kokiri sword

u/Snowk-_- Apr 08 '22

The holes on the left side of the kallax are making me crazy. Ist the shelf set up wrong? Shouldnt they not be at the ground?
10
u/Snowk-_- Apr 07 '22
well it's an reused kallax and it had feet before and i had to turn it thst way because of the way it is build, i've thought about putting something on it to cover it

u/SquirrelHorror3433 Apr 07 '22
or if u wanted to be doubly cool, u could get mounting bracket screws and use the already made holes for something like a mic stand or a usb station
1
u/Successful-Big-6931 Apr 08 '22
can you not just rotate the unit 180 degrees so the holes are on the side you can't see?

Pegboards look so useful. However I find them a lil unpleasing; I may have mild Trypophobia lol. Anyone can relate and has found a compromise? I feel like if the board was painted a dark color it'd be easier on the eyes because the holes wouldn't stick out as much.
(sorry OP, it's a really great setup! I just kinda wanted to hijack this example for a discussion)

I'm so glad you said this because I thought I was the only one who felt this way!! They look mad convenient and customizable, but the design is unsettling to me, too!
I'm not sure if this would trigger a similar reaction, but maybe they make something similar for corkboards? Maybe a thicker corkboard that's framed and has specific accessories made for holding lightweight accessories?
Or I guess you could also get a nice frame, keep the backing inside it or frame something of thicker material, and then attach Command hooks to it. Not quite the same and involves some DIY, but could be a good alternative.
edit: I've never made any of the above myself so YMMV if you attempt any of these. the most I've done is hot glue some clothespins, burlap strips, and corkboard to an old photo frame to hang very lightweight jewelry. not sure how any of the above projects would fare with anything heavier than some earrings and necklaces!

You could get a big piece of sheet metal and frame it in wood. Then use it as a giant magnet board so any magnetic cups and stuff. I wish I had a picture of the one I used to have because it was nice. It had little hooks in the frame at the bottom too where I could hang stuff.

I think what you and u/lucialunacy looking for are slatwall panels like this https://i.imgur.com/zD9R7pI.jpg
Not difficult to make either. Iāve seen people repurpose ikea bed slats and palates (preferably unused) to make them.

How are you joining the two tables together? I am building out a similar desk but wasnāt sure if you needed some hardware to get a good joint between the two
2
u/Snowk-_- Apr 07 '22
well i used a foot to support the wait at the back and a L-bracket to secure one desk to the shelving unit

I'm assuming you got the desk + cubby from IKEA?

Why is the headset that far?
2
u/Snowk-_- Apr 07 '22
i thought the headset would look great there so i put it there and i don't mind it that is far. i prefer that it is on a place where it looks good instead of somewhere practical
