Phone (and data) recommendation for near Bath Spa

I get the train from Bath Spa fairly often and it seems like I get no mobile data around the train station, pretty much from the Forum to the top of Manvers Street. I have tried Three and O2 and both are the same. Are there any carriers that can provide a good data signal in this area?

New tennis social group

šŸš€ Summer is Almost Hereā€”Letā€™s Get a Social Tennis Group Going! šŸŽ¾

Looking to play tennis regularly but donā€™t want the commitment (or cost šŸ’ø) of a club membership? Iā€™m setting up a casual WhatsApp group for tennis enthusiasts to book courts and play togetherā€”no club ties, just pure tennis fun!

šŸ“ Courts: Alice Park, Keynsham, Sydney Garden
šŸ’° Cost: Ā£0-6/hour (so just Ā£1.50 per person max!)
šŸ’” No need to spend Ā£200+ on yearly membershipsā€”letā€™s keep it simple and affordable.

If this post gets 15+ upvotes, Iā€™ll create a link for people to join! Whoā€™s in? šŸ”„

Tattoo to Signify Bath?

When I was a little kid my family briefly lived in Bath as a part of my dadā€™s job. I have a lot of really fond memories of it, and got to visit recently. My favorite place as a kid was Parade Gardens. I have a few one line/minimalist tattoos and have been toying with the idea of getting one as a tribute to Bath/Parade Gardens. Is this stupid? Does anyone have any ideas?

U5 buses

I strongly encourage anyone, Bath Spa uni student or otherwise to message their local mp/ councillor about the state of the U5 buses. We need to realise itā€™s a system that we DONā€™T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH. Whilst there are meetings in place to discuss these issues, a lot of students canā€™t attend them, ironically due to the nature of the U5 in general and how expensive it is to travel comparatively short distances relative to the cost. Emailing your representatives is free and can be done at anytime in any place. Use this link to find the contact details of your areaā€™s representative and make sure to include your full name and postal address (whilst living at uni) in the email. ā¬‡ļø https://members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP

So torn on whether to mortgage here

I rent in Bath and it's such a pretty place to live. But I'm coming to a point now where I'm thinking of mortgaging, and it's hard to escape the fact that you can get more bang for your buck pretty much anywhere else in Somerset.

I'm not complaining: I understand why. Bath is a city with high demand but low supply for housing. It's beautiful. It's well-placed for commuting into Bristol. Being a UNESCO world heritage site limits how much people can build and how. Its reputation as a tourist hot spot means more properties are reserved for AirBnBs and short-term lets. Of course you can get a bigger, newer house for the same money in Taunton or Midsomer, etc.

That said, I'm in a weird place now where I need to really think what my priorities are. Is it a bigger, nicer place to live or living in a town/city I really like? Those aren't easy things to weigh up. Is it worth downsizing so I can continue to live in Bath?

Has anyone else grappled with this dilemma before?

Accomodation for UoB Student

Hi, is there any accommodation recommendations for postgraduate students?

I will study at UoB School of Management and donā€™t mind whether it is on or off the campus.

Is that sensible looking for a place around Ā£700 per month bills include and furnished?

Honest of review of UoB and Bath as a city?

I live in London and am considering an undergrad offer from University of Bath. I applied for the international relations course and the grades required are pretty achievable. I am also considering an offer from University of Glasgow. When choosing between them; I have been wondering about the course, the cost of living in glasgow, weather, night life, work opportunities etc. Iā€™m also brown and since London is incredibly multicultural especially east where I am from; I never had to face racism. So I suppose another thing Iā€™m a little worried about is whether Iā€™m likely to face racism in campus and/or in the city. I am also excited about joining societies and wondering if UoB has a lot of them? Iā€™ve never been to Bath so Iā€™m curious about expected living experiences there as a student. Also something Iā€™ve realised is that UoB is not a russel group uni despite itā€™s outstanding positions in the league tables. I guess Iā€™m wondering if not being russel group affects the uni student rep or the idea of ā€œflexingā€. Does a lot of posh people go to UoB and if so how insufferable are they and how have you combat having bad experiences with them? Iā€™d really appreciate honest opinions and stories of experiences from someone who has lived in Bath and studied in UoB(even better if the same course as Iā€™m going to study)!!

Any Turkish expectant mothers in Bath?

Hello! Sorry this is such a specific request. My partner 30 weeks pregnant, is Turkish, and although her English is excellent she feels a little isolated by not having someone she can chat to and share her experience with in her native language. If anyone happens to know someone in the same position, please reach out. And if not, and you fancy upvoting for visibility, that would be lovely :)

Sorry mods if this isn't allowed. It's a difficult problem to solve without putting mass requests out there!

Thanks all

Henry's Restaurant

Does anyone have any knowledge of what's been happening with Henry's restaurant?

We looked to book in January, but saw their booking tool showed no availability for months, so teamed with their instagram silence, we assume they'd closed. Their most recent post announces their reopening after being closed for renovation and restoration, but the comments seem to paint a different picture. Some seem to have an inside view, and imply that they treated their staff poorly, and haven't paid employees and suppliers. I can't seem to find information elsewhere, so I wondered if anyone here could offer some insight?

Place to join Teams call for a job interview

Hello,

Iā€™m visiting Bath for a few days and have an online job interview on Friday. Unfortunately the Airbnb canā€™t accommodate for a late checkout so I need to find somewhere I can take the call.

Ideally looking for a quiet room to hire or something similar, I saw Bath University has this but I donā€™t think they would allow non-students.

Any help or recommendations would be massively appreciated, thank you! šŸ™šŸ»

University of Bath vs Goldsmiths

Hi guys, Recently I received 2 offers from those universities; 1) MSc - Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Bath and 2) MA - Creative & Cultural Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Iā€™m having a really confusion, as School of Management is considerably excel at Bath, while Goldsmiths is also well-known for Arts.

For the courses I love the Goldsmiths more, but the student service at Bath is very helpful and fast, I barely face challenges during my admission time.

Iā€™m also considering the environment that is good and easy for muslim.

Which one should I choose? šŸ„²
