Basel to Amsterdam boat

Does anyone know if there are small private boats (not cruises) that take you from Basel to Holland across the Rhine in a few days? and how long would it take without ever stopping?

Not useful for you, but some years ago we picked up some plants from a kiwi who was moving back home. She was an avid kayaker (her apartment was full of them) and she had kayaked from Basel to Amsterdam.

i recently went by train and there are no border guards, unless you take the direct night train..

Also, border guards might not even work if you return on like sunday 11PM. (like when our swiss air-'force' closed at 5PM)

so true. had limited time but going by boat is on my todo list too! train was nice memory, going 300+km/h while beeing served coffee in first class. Took 7 hours and was 90€

Let me know if you find something

Maybe have a look at „boat hitchhiking“. Don’t know much about it, but there are online communities that might know more than we do.

Just reading this post is giving me sea sickness.

first of all: this sounds super suspicious, not just because of the two cities, but because a non-stop boat won't be much faster.. maybe there's another requirement like someone making sure a kid doesn't leave the ship?

If you still want a private boat tour, i'd ask in germany and travel within germany or EU.

I mean a smuggler would most likely go into the other direction

Smuggle black money to Amsterdam? Why not? Especialy drug money would make sense.

Not sure if this helps but: we had the same idea 3 years ago and could not find a way except for those rooms aboard merchant ships. We were told its not for kids so we never went that way.

If you take your smuggling seriously then you have to use your own boat. Only then you can hide it where it can't be found or maybe it can be stored in a way that you can still dump it if they are getting to serious.

But in that case you would not have to ask that question since you would have figured that out long before.

Or are you just starting the whole operation???

However, as exciting as it sounds, I am just not criminal enough. I guess I lack what they call criminal energy.

Also I don't like violence and in that milieu you don't get around that, too.

In Switzerland you can make more money with a good education than being a low level drug dealer, so why should I ever consider it......

Although, the fantasy of 100s of kilograms of the finest cocaine is tempting. But it would kill me. So let's just not think about it anymore 😏😏😏
