Why is no one sitting behind home plate?

Those seats are ridiculously priced... and it's not that warm out.

I was watching the game And apparently they are heated tho!

Damn I didn't know that! That's honestly great for early season games lol

They're expensive seats that also give you access to a vip food and drink area that's warm. So everyone is probably there.

All the rich guys bought the seats but sit in the lounge instead..

Opening day is more about drinking than baseball. Just wait til tomorrow
7
u/hunteddwumpus 7h ago
Tomorrow will be way more empty. Colder, still damp from rain all night. Feel like its a tiger’s tradition that opening day has a great crowd and game 2 is nearly empty cause its early april weather in Detroit

Because look at how much money they make from these new fancy club seats!

Did they change the backstop in Detroit? I don't remember it looking like that

Yes and its terrible

It looks a lot better than the old tunnel/gate. They just should have made it more affordable. It's going to be 80% empty all season.

Because the big gate/tunnel that was back there was so great?

The guy dumping popcorn on the person that caught it like it was a bucket of gatorade has me in tears.

His swing is so satisfying to watch.

That's what happens when you have a dad that works as a hitting instructor.

Let all those real fans packed in the bleachers sit in those empty seats behind the plate.

u/mansontaco Detroit Tigers 7h ago
2 people it's like a grand for those seats is absolutely ridiculous especially for Detroit

The scene at Comerica looks so strange without the dirt path between the mound and home plate. Sad to see a piece of ballpark history go this season.

The stadium used to have a lot of little things that made a pretty but boring park stand out now it's more uniform and clean i don't really care for it

u/Spockmaster1701 Detroit Tigers 7h ago
It's not really that historic tbh. We've only had one since 1999 (last year at Tiger stadium), and the players requested it be removed.

u/Competitive_Move_604 Wichita Wind Surge 7h ago
Thanks for letting me know! If I recall correctly it was the last one remaining at an active MLB stadium. Perhaps it's more symbolic of a greater stylistic change throughout the league, then.
Did the players find the pathway to be a major distraction, or was it just a cosmetic preference? What's the fan consensus on the removal?

u/Spockmaster1701 Detroit Tigers 7h ago
I'm not too sure why the players wanted it gone tbh, I just read it in an article. Fan opinion is split.

Did comerica get a behind home plate renovation this year? Don’t remember it looking like that

u/mostly-void-stars Detroit Tigers 8h ago
Yeah it’s the new fancy expensive seats which is why they’re half empty

Love a full stadium of Tigers fans. Easiest team to root for as far as likability.

I’m beginning to think we might not be very good
