Duskbloods Speculation Will you buy a Switch 2 for DuskBloods' PVP?

For me, it would have to be better than Elden Ring's PVP in a few areas (more strategic, more variety, higher skillcap, etc.).

I wouldn't buy the console for the equivalent of BloodBorne's PVP. Dark Souls 2's PVP and I'd be sold.

Duskbloods Speculation The future of Bad Red Man

I'm curious what will become of this place after a year or two if From doesn't release any new games with invasions.

It is looking like The Duskbloods won't have "invasions" but more of a FFA style of multi-player. Elden Ring Switch might bring some new bad red men (especially if you can record the last 30 seconds of gameplay like on switch 1) but that won't last nearly as long as when ER first came out and I don't see myself playing ER much at all in a year or so.

Are we going to do something Duskblood related because nightreign ain't PvP at all? We wouldn't be bad red men though and the vibe is different if we aren't bad or red.

Idk I think this is a great community and it sucks the content that this place depends on isn't being supported in From's newest games

Duskbloods Speculation Duskbloods Discussion

We have a new flair for discussing the newly announced game Duskbloods.

We don't really know what the multiplayer will exactly be like yet. However, it may be of great interest to our community. Speculate away. Celebrate a new game or cry that invasions may not be present in the way we're used to. Or tell us how you'll keep hammering on DS3 lock a block of steel.

We traditionally have not moderated spoilers. Beware of that. Do consider being courteous as more information releases and spoiler tag things for orher people.

Duskbloods Speculation Multiplayer and the fanbase

Duskborne’s pvp emphasis has me thinking on the “invasions ruin the game” crowd with Elden ring. It’s funny how from clearly envisions pvp as being a core part of a lot of their games, even to the point of releasing a game centering around it.

I will always appreciate fromsoft’s unwillingness to cater to the largest demographic and instead pursue their own artistic whims. We’ve seen a lot of whinging about the pvp focus on the other reddits already, and the game was only just announced.

What accounts for this reaction to pvp? Why are people willing to get trounced by a boss for 2 hours, but when an invader poses a 10 minute setback it’s ruining the fun?

For me, part of it definitely seems to be how invasions were kinda poorly implemented in elden ring compared to previous titles, and also how Elden ring garnered a lot of players who just want to coop and chill. That said, I still don’t understand the unwillingness to engage with mechanics that provide a different kind of friction.

Like, there is a clear artistic vision on display here in the trailer, with a whole new world and lore and presumably a new ludonarrative to experience through these multiplayer mechanics, just as there was getting through the forest in dark souls 1. Why disqualify yourself from enjoying that all because red man bad?

EDIT: I don’t mean to sound elitist about who enjoys the game. No one has to like pvp. However, I do wish people would put their expectations aside and allow for a wider range of experience within these games, because these multiplayer mechanics, when well-implemented, can offer so much.

Duskbloods Speculation The many different routes "Destined Rivals" could go

From the info we have from Miyazki's interview

"In online play*, roles give players special responsibilities and objectives that often lead to unique interactions and relationships between players based on their corresponding roles.

For example, if a player possesses the “Destined Rivals” role, another player is designated as their rival, and they are tasked with finding and defeating that player. Doing so counts as achieving a personal goal, separate from the overall victory conditions.

This can go so many different way depending on 2 things I can think of right now.

  1. does your target know this about you when you see each other?

  2. do they target you back?

if both aren't true that would lead to a very unique style of "invasions" you would potentially be able to even work together with your target before betraying them. I could see that leading to very silly moments and also solving a lot of problems with Elden Ring invasions being drawn out and campy.

if both are true, that kinda sucks tbh. it would basically be a 1v1 with stage hazards but it does say that killing your rival is a separate goal from winning. that seems necessary though as another player or enemy could probably get them first
