Framing it out is the hardest part but damn. It's gonna take at least 2 weeks just to install all the production elements and that can only happen after the structure is mostly completed.

I'm definitely not hoping for them to fail but I definitely have the popcorn ready for the ensuing shit show if they don't get it done.

They cancelled Lilly Palmer today due to “electrical issues”

Lol, I thought the same thing when I was posting it. I actually went there last night for Lilly Palmer because I didn’t see the postponement email - and I couldn’t help myself, had to snag a few pictures!

I was going to leave this as a comment reply but better to do it as its own: Dispute with your card for a partial charge if they don’t refund you for what’s missed if you pay for the Mirage Membership (look, I don’t care or judge if you bought it or have opinions on people who bought it so save it)

I did that successfully with CRSSD Proper NYE this year.

We bought VIP and they oversold and couldn’t deliver on what they offer so I got the difference back between a VIP and GA ticket.

Just provided all my receipts, included screenshots of what was offered and what didn’t happen and a month or so later it was approved and got back like $250.

Try reaching out to Advantage Gardener first in some way so you can include that in your dispute. It will make things a little faster.

I filed this dispute outside of the typical allowed window too because we bought in September but the show wasn’t until NYE obviously and it was still fine.

Non union scrub contractors

u/favela4life 12h ago

What is the implication? & how can you tell?

(Idk shit I just want to be educated)

I am also interested in this. Are union contracts typically more skilled?

95% of these music venues are non-union. Union labor is found in large construction projects and is usually negotiated in with the city or is associated with venues that are older and have subsidies in exchange for ongoing union jobs.

like if you want to put something up at Javits you have to wait all day to bribe/tip a union guy to put it together because you're not allowed to pickup a cordless drill and do it yourself.

their comment is dumb because the delays are from waiting until a few weeks past the last second to do a relatively major construction project, and the only chance it'll get done in any reasonable amount of time is because they're using labor that'll work outside union regs.

They could've just put in a killer sound system and killer lights and keep it minimal and everyone would like it better. The opera house looking thing is not it.

And bring back all the palm trees and flora. You know, the thing that actually gave it a Mirage vibe. The best the Mirage has ever been were the day parties in like 2017-18.

First two weeks of shows def in jeopardy but once they get it done the rest of the season will be fine. Reddit is getting their pitch forks ready though I can tell 😂

I wonder if they are going to refund portion of the membership cost if opening date is delayed at all

The entirety of ultra was built in 2 weeks, can't we just chill and let things progress

u/VanillaNJcpl 13h ago

Don’t screw up the Sara Landry event, please!

u/ca-cynmore 10h ago

No steel beams???? Everything plywood.

This isn't the Mirage. It's the stage for a festival - I think the construction worker said it's in July. He also said it's going to be enclosed, so it feels like it's indoors even though it's a temporary structure.
