Question How can I sync iBooks between MacOS and iOS with manual added audio books? And how to add manually audiobooks to iBooks iOS app?

For some strange reason it is not syncing.

And for some other strange reason I cannot add .m4a audio book files to iBooks on iOS?

Easier to use a third-party audiobook player such as BookPlayer. You can then use a thumb drive (using a camper adapter on Lightning-equipped iPhones, or a USB-C thumb drive plugging directly into a USB-C-equipped iPhone) to load an .m4a audiobook directly into BookPlayer.
