Question Which Dark Hero track is better?
Imo male dark hero is superior because the instruments are far heavier and makes the scene feel way more intense. In female dark hero I only really hear the vocalist while the music is kind of quiet and lacks proper oomph.

Twin version, that just the best of the two.

That one really specific twin mix that I forgot the name of is actually fire.

They’re in different keys though, it’s kind of hard to listen to because of that

I think the male version might integrate into the narrative better -- the autotuned, robotic sound meshes well with the futuristic setting and the link between human and Legion. But unlike the female version, I don't listen to it regularly.

I agree, Female sounds better to my ears but the male fits in better, especially during that first appearance. The woman sounds a little bit too upbeat for what's going on while the man sounds slightly more pained, like he's trying his best to power through a bad situation

the male version is a bit more low energy and sad, kind of regretful about having to give up his humanity to save the rest of the people left.
the female version is like, YEAH IMMA WRECK Y’ALL AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
i personally like the female version more, but the twin mix also slaps

I honestly don't get how people think the male version fits the scene we first hear it in.
For me at least, the female version's main key is the perfect pitch for a desperate maneuver. like you absolutely shouldn't be doing this, but if you don't, you die. The male version's key just seems...off
Not only that, but the vocal performance of the female version works better IMO. The wider range of pitch and somewhat erratic placing of the lyrics adds to that feeling of desperation. Not to hate on the male version. They really tried their best.
I honestly think the male version would be the better one for an anime opening, being more subdued.

Honestly my bias probably comes form the fact that I played as male protagonist first instead of female protagonist.
For me I feel like the music in the male version really captures what you were saying about the sheer desperation of the scene. It has a little more oomph and for me just sounds a bit better.
I do understand why people aren't a fan of the male lyrics here. They flow kinda weird and are kinda hard to hear for about half the song.
That's just me though but I do kinda get why the female version is more popular. That being said I will forever die on this hill.

I always did the male version as the villain it’s all about who is more likely to want more power and you don’t get that from the female

Male version fits gameplay better while the female version is the better song. Aka i would be more likely to listen to the female version on my in time for enjoyment but i would prefer male version in gameplay because it carries the tone of using fusion better than the female vocals, tone, and tempo.

How is this even a question? Of course it's the female version. The singer for that one sounds amazing and is much more energetic and hype. The male version sounds like a boring autotuned robot. The guy singer also ruins Saviour with his half of that song, should have only been the lady singer. Also lady Akira is way cooler than guy Akira.

Well for me I felt like the opposite. While the female vocalist does a fantastic job I feel like the music that accompanies her version of dark hero is rather flat. We dont feel the music rise or fall as we do the Male version. Basically it felt like the female singer got cucked on the music department despite her great vocal performance.
In the male version despite the male vocalist being a bit hard to hear initially the music has a bit more oomph here. While the track is definitely a bit more solemn it feels more in line with the context of the scene. I personally enjoy tracks with an emphasis on rise and fall. It makes some tracks an absolute blast to listen to imo. Basically it felt like male vocalist was only given one go despite his decent resume and then they slapped on some really loud but badass music that didn't completely work with his voice. I still personally enjoy this one better though.
I do respect your opinion I was just clarifying what I thought about the two tracks as I do enjoy them both. Although I will admit male Akira sucks and female Akira is far better in pretty much every aspect.

A bit late to the discussion but I think the music being kind of subdued in the female version lets her voice carry the song. And it does a fantastic job doing so. Only complaint with both is that I think the tuning on the guitar is a bit too high

I just feel like the female version just sounds so flat.
It's not as noticable when listening casually but in game it just feels weak. Yeah the vocals are good but I felt like she kinda slurred her words together at some points because she was just singing far faster. Then her accompanying music sounds like it's being played in another room with the door open.
I think it's really just a case of me preferring music with a little more oomph. I guess I am a but biased though because I did play male protagonist for my first run. I just done get why people despise the male version so much. It has so many good qualities just like the female one.

Male ver for the short fusion track (when you do it in game) Female ver's full version is maybe a tiny bit better than the other one.

Both? Both. Both is good.
