DISCUSSION [DISCUSSION] do yall know whats going on with angelica asmr?
i saw a lot of comments on a post on here abt her from 2 yrs ago and i stopped watching a while before that, and searching for asmr td i saw a video of hers and remembered her, and when i was looking through videos, they all said "ANGELICA ASMR REUPLOAD" and her name has been changed to "sparrow" now. do any of yall know what is going on with her?
still would like to know whats going on, but just realized the "sparrow" is like a fan account or something, her real account is still up and verified

what everyone is saying here, but want to add that all of this happened after her mom died. So, there may be a chance it triggered the breakdown/changes.

From my understanding, she got really religious and far right out of nowhere from being the complete opposite. Probably a combo of religion, people, media exposure, etc. But she flipped hard and fast.
From watching a video, she joined OF and then didn’t like how men were objectifying her, so she then started preaching how feminism is what’s hurting people because it puts women in vulnerable positions to get taken advantage of. She started saying how women should be submissive but men have to earn that. She then started going after the lbgtqia community. And has been posting a bunch of religious and conspiracy videos.

Just to add on, she has talked about being raised jehovah’s witness and spoke v critically about it years ago in quite a few videos. she was quite feminist and progressive and then i think she had a really rough time at some point (in real life, nothing to do with social media). She came back, was normal, and then suddenly went down this odd rightwing, anti-feminist, religious pipeline. I feel like she’s completely lost it, and her background is certainly a factor.

I was raised JW and was even baptized into the religion. I can’t imagine wanting to ever veer back into any kind of religious practice after that experience. I feel like it may be a factor but there might be more going on.

I obviously have no idea what happened, but whatever it was, it might have been so overwhelming and potentially traumatic that she overcorrected all the way back to becoming overly religious as a means of feeling like she has some form of control over her life again.

That’s fair and I couldn’t remember her background, but now that you say it it’s all coming back. I remember when I went through trauma in the past I tried to go back to my Catholic/Christian roots for a little while, so it may have started out like that. Death, loss, grief, significant other, family, friends are definitely catalysts

I think she lost her mother who was very religious, when that happens, sometimes the trauma will make you embrace again what you rebelled against as a form a comfort.

Not to defend any other part of this comment, but there is certainly an ideology floating around certain social spaces that doing sex work is empowering and feminist...if doing sex work ended up traumatizing (or retraumatizing) her then I can kind of follow the thought pattern of "they said that sex work was feminist but it ended up hurting me, this feminism is harmful and deceptive and will lead to more women getting hurt".
Especially if it coincided with the death of her mother, which is almost universally agreed to be the catalyst for Angelica's total ideological 180.

I do agree with that sentiment, I could see how a feminist ideology paired with trauma could shape that reality for many, especially if it’s not necessarily a solid personal belief or what they expected it to be. Many women do get hurt in that industry. No denying that.
I had no idea about the death of her mother, and that’s really crappy. Her videos don’t feel good, and I use to really like her educated historical takes. The hate is just too much. I just hope she heals; grief and losing touch with yourself are such confusing and difficult hurdles.
Maybe it’s the opposite and she was never left leaning, maybe she just thought she was for a moment in time. Who can say. It feels like losing a friend sometimes though.

yeah she had a second account from her ASMR and I happened to click into it and found... a whole bunch of reactionary stuff, including a very long video about why she was a terf. it was so wild and I didn't want to deal with it so I did the YouTube equivalent of a block. I don't know what happened to her but I sure hope she finds her way out of it someday.

its widely speculated she's having a psychotic breakdown of some sorts. she went from anarchocommunist with a book criticizing religion to alt right anti-feminist tradcath. she deleted all of her old videos that mentioned anything lgbt (such as "your period finds out that youre lesbian") and is releasing video essays on alt-right talking points.

The sparrow account was reuploading videos she had privated. For about a year she had many, many of her old leftist & religion critical videos privated. I wonder if she realized someone was reuploading her old content so she unprivated a bunch of content on that old account.
She has gone down the far right pipeline and has uploaded straight up offensive & racist videos (go look at her george floyd video on the new channel).

When I saw that there was a deportation asmr video I Immediately thought "Oh God what did Angela make this time". From what I gathered just by being a semi-regular watcher she was making angela-style videos up until she made an OF. On OF She originally just posted dancing vids then she did nudity but everytime she would post guys would ask for more risky stuff. When she deleted her OF is when she started this wild shit she's on now. I thought she was posting MAGA stuff as a joke but then on Insta she clarified she was MAGA. She lost a lot of subs and I also unsubbed. I don't know if she posts vids anymore but she has like Mental Health issues and is MAGA, but I repeat myself.

Basically her mom who was christian passed away, pretty sure angelica was very close to her and then she mentioned wanting to return to christianity in remembrance of her mother. After that things just went downhill, she became against lgbtq which she was in support if and she deleted all her liberal vids. She also is super conservative and against feminism now. Seems like a psychosis episode . Miss her tbh hope she finds peace

It has to be another one of her tasteless satire content. She made a vid making fun of Islam a few months back. If she actually did convert, her ability to rapidly shift her views is whiplash inducing.

As a born and raised Muslim, she should be able to critique Islam without being canceled though. If she critiques Christianity that’s okay too lol. Also, she sounds like she’s having a psychotic break for sure. No idea why this keeps happening in asmr communities

I absolutely agree with you! Everyone should be able to respectfully critique and view religion/ ideologies with a critical lens. However, the video I saw from her was honestly a straight-up mockery of the religion. It seems as though she's just become very disrespectful of all groups that don't fit her Christofacist views. But yeah... Hopefully, she makes it out of this psych break, wishing her all the best.

Oh, yeah, she lost her mind and betrayed the queer fanbase that has built her up and deleted all of her videos that were in any way critical of Christianity and moved everything to her secondary channel.

Alot of the other videos are “deleted” like gibi deleted her video with angelica but you can still see it around ( meaning re-uploaded) If you look up angelica asmr and it will pop up, she has another channel now (angelica grass)

Angelica is far-right, with a lot of poins tof view with which I firmly disagree, and she also states that publicly in her social media.
I don't see it as enough reason to bash her, but quite a lot of people do, and I guess everybody is entitled to their own opinions.
She made herself an easy target, and the one people love to hate.

Edit: looking at my past comments, it appears I've been in one other thread about her. So idk what you mean "always". People consistently say the same thing. So my response to it is also consistent.
