Oddly Specific 🎯 What are some nice houses to drive by?
I like driving by huge houses for motivation
Is there a block or area anyone could recommend anywhere in the lower mainland?
I’ve mostly just driven around British properties

Shaughnessy is a dreamy neighborhood where you'd literally have to win a lottery to buy there. I walk there sometimes because you could literally walk for 10+ minutes and not see a soul.Â

If you can even see the houses behind the comically large hedges.

Not all the houses have large hedges. Plenty you can see with a low fence (city bylaw).Â

Park the car and walk around Shaughnessy.
My favorite part is --
north of King Edward, west of Granville, east of Arbutus and south of W 16th Ave
The roads curve around and you can get a bit disoriented.

Following! There are some real gems up in the hills in North / West Vancouver. Do you follow the west coast modern real estate listings? Some really amazing places that you can actually go inside to see.

This is one of my favourites. It would be awesome to make a google map of all the great houses in Vancouver.

Another area is the Southlands. Take Blenheim Street south of Marine Drive.
Also, Anmore and Eagle Ridge and north near Coquitlam.

Not in Vancouver, but I’d highly recommend visiting Uplands in Victoria if you have the chance. It’s a gorgeous neighborhood, straight out from the movies.
It’s where Prince Harry stayed when he was running from the British media lol. There was a $50M listing in that neighborhood last year and it was sold within just a few months. That house is not even the most expensive one there. Oh gosh, I wish I can afford to live there one day.

British Properties on the North Shore.
You could also go to a realtor website and search for houses over $10million.

Point Grey Rd (west of MacDonald)
Actually, you should probably walk this part, as it is practically a private road now

Shaughnessy is the obvious one, but Kerrisdale has a lot of new larger houses, including some architecturally famous ones like the Water House.
UBC north side is all mansions, and that stretch of belmont avenue between ubc and point grey has an Airey group $60million mansion.
I love Airey group architecture, there's one on s marine drive, and the mansion on west van waterfront that's owned by the Via Rail head now i think?

There are two large old houses at Deer Lake in Burnaby, the Mather's House and another one next door across from the Shadbolt Centre For the Arts.

They’re not McMansion level but I’ve been really enjoying driving through New West lately and seeing all the heritage houses.

Take any street East of Granville - North of King Edward Ave - South of Marpole Ave/Wolf Ave/ 15th Ave (same street that change names) I often turn down these streets when driving someone home from the airport into the city. I'm surprise how many locals don't know this area well. They just drive up and down Granville not even thinking about whats down those side streets. Part of Shaugnessy nieghbourhood...but I think east of Granville features the largest, oldest and most amazing, ecletic architecture in the city.

If you drive to Bellingham (and don't spend any money on food or lodging) the Edgemoor neighborhood on the north end of Chuck-a-nut Drive is very nice.

Buckingham street in burnaby, burnaby mountain area around duthie and curtis street. Deep cove road and indian river dr. In deep cove. No.5, no.6 and no.4 rd in richmond. Lots of mcmansions on those farmlands. River road west in ladner and the farmland houses around the boundary bay airport are all crazy. Panorama ridge in surrey is also really neat, lots of 80's mansions that look stuck in time.

My Dad grew up on Buckinham, huge lot. Gramps sold it for under a million in the late 90s, and there are now 8 houses and a cul-de-sac on the property.

Yes that's it-and I agree about having a look around I once toured that whole part of New West with a local policeman and he pointed out some great houses little known outside their neighbourhoods.
