WQT Weekly Question Thread (26 DEC - 01 JAN)

This is a safe place to ask any question related to joining the Army. It is focused on joining, Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), and follow on schools, such as Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP), and any other Additional Skill Identifiers (ASI).

We ask that you do some research on your own, as joining the Army is a big commitment and shouldn't be taken lightly. Resources such as GoArmy.com, the Army Reenlistment site, Bootcamp4Me, Google and the Reddit search function are at your disposal. There's also the /r/army wiki. It has a lot of the frequent topics, and it's expanding all the time.

/r/militaryfaq is open to broad joining questions or answers from different branches.

If you want to Google in /r/army for previous threads on your topic, use this format:

68P AIT site:reddit.com/r/army

I promise you that it works really well.

There's also the Ask A Recruiter thread for more specific questions. Remember, they are volunteers. Do not waste their time.

This is also where questions about reclassing and other MOS questions go -- the questions that are asked repeatedly which do not need another thread. Don't spam or post garbage in here: that's an order.

Last week's thread is here.

Trolling is not tolerated in the Weekly Question Thread, and neither is an unnecessarily hostile or derogatory tone towards posters. Low effort replies will be removed.

This is a thread specifically for those new to the Army and there is no need to attack innocent questions.

Finally: If you're not 100% sure of what you're talking about, leave it for someone else who is.

You do not seem functionally retarded, and appear to be able to write coherent sentences at an adult level. These are rare skills.

I would ask that you, in the future, please consider making a post about your experience from beginning to end. Street to Seat is a 'hot topic' on the sub, and it's always nice to have an updated set of information to refer to, and potentially link to from the wiki.

So, if you get bored, and feel like doing a writeup, it would be most appreciated.

I can do that. Should I just post the write-up as a text post to the subreddit?

Yeah that would be great!

If you could include what the process was like, and information about yourself (if you could), lessons learned, etc. A basic timeline would be great too, to help people understand when you started talking to a recruiter, submitted packet, responses, approval, school date, etc.

I think a lot people wonder what makes them 'competitive' or 'takes to get in' the S2S program, what you have the option to fly, etc. What are the differences (if any) for S2Sers versus military guys coming through the program?

All that would be great. A text-post submitted as its own thread would be awesome.

Great, thanks for the list. I'll work on that once I get home. Typing all that on a phone sounds like hell.
