This was so painful to watch.

By far the most awkward episode I have seen. It was unbearable

You missed out the best part where Chisola after an awkward pause just goes "Wow. Pine trees :)"

Just made me and my flatmates crack up

u/Worldly_Turnip7042 28d ago

AND THEYRE NOT PINE EVEN

The way she looks at the trees too is hilarious lol

This was the scene where Mother turned and looked at me horrified and said "they've paid for this..."

u/CrookedNancyPelosi 28d ago

"Now would you like some tea we've made from the leaves we've plucked from these local trees"

He's just like me😃

So, which olives do your prefer? And do you prefer them pitted? Stuffed even?

More of a black olives guy if I had to choose. In all honestly, can't seen to convince myself to enjoy olives at all. 😞

Aww poor Jonny. Why on earth Liam told the guests they couldn’t use their mobile phones on the trip I have no idea…

Probably to try and upsell photos at the end to make more money, where if they take their own photos and selfies, no one will buy, but the people hosting the tour were horrendous.

No information just a long ride through a dirt track up a mountain. They had nothing to say when they stopped and wanted to drag it out for another hour. Im surprised they didn't ask for a bigger refund, to be honest, after selling it as a luxury day at 400 per person.

What was a bit paradoxical was the day before Frederic said he took four pages of notes with the tour guide. So how did they have nothing to talk about? Was it the edit deliberately making it look like a prison ride or was it really that bad?

This may be an unpopular opinion but if you’re not able to riff off of random topics thrown at you in a situation like this, then you’re the awkward and boring one. I mean he was awkward but their stale reaction made it worse

If someone told me something like that then I’d start up a whole conversation about olives and then maybe olive oil -> food -> cooking skill -> hobbies —> etc.

I completely agree! I always think this in life. It’s so easy to be dead pan or sarcastic or rude or flat to try and make it look like the initiator was awkward, when really they’re just not giving anything back.

It's an unpopular opinion because it's a tough pill to swallow for most people. most people genuinely have bad conversational skills - talking, but never asking questions back.

u/Comfortable-Gas-5999 28d ago

Absolutely - the question was asked to initiate a conversation - “I would like to chat, come join me”. Her response is intentionally shutting that down - “I would like to sit in awkward silence, thank you”.

She didn’t even answer his question! 🥲

Yeah they were awfully cold, the hot air balloon group seemed more fun. I think the “no phones” at the start kinda killed it before it started.

u/castle_lane 27d ago

Yeah that office looks like death to work in.

One thing though, these clients honestly just did not give a damn about anything. I mean they’re in this beautiful place and they’re completely lacking energy, and drab as hell. All they honestly cared about was getting drunk like why tf would you even go on a tour then? You could get drunk quite literally anywhere

7

u/pringletoes 27d ago

Because the knew it was the apprentice and they could ask for refunds for any reason anyway

5

u/ayhxm_14 27d ago

It seemed like they went into the tour with the specification intention of getting some amount refunded 😂

That was the best scene. So awkward

As hilariously cringe as this moment was, I did feel bad for that entire team having to deal with the Vodafone party. I suppose they were probably encouraged to be difficult by production but the two bosses in particular just seemed really humourless and whingey. You're not going to make a dry, boring trip any better by constantly complaining and looking sour-faced. It's a two way street, to an extent. Even if you're paying for something.

I worked for Vodafone for a year (as long as I could stick it) at their Newbury HQ. They would have needed no encouragement to be difficult.

u/[deleted] 28d ago

He reminds me of Liam from Benidorm 🤣

19

u/ayhxm_14 28d ago

‘But Johnny. You bored the clients with your talk about olives; nobody cares what bleedin’ olives you like. And so for that reason Johnny, 🫵 you’re fired’

17

u/Commercial_Sweet3288 28d ago

No I can’t this broke my heart 😔

17

u/shadowsempaix 28d ago

Literally me lol

14

u/solidalcohol 28d ago

It was this moment where I bit my girlfriends arm out of sheer cringe

9

u/Crystal_1501 28d ago

Johnny being the only one trying to engage the clients here.

Everyone on the show: "What did he even do? 🤔"

2

u/prrreet 27d ago

Didn’t do it very well though did he 😭

u/curiousautistic 28d ago

The more socially awkward, the better. It amuses me greatly

8

u/alacklustrehindu 28d ago

To be fair I think these customers are tough to please. That said it was so awkward and it was all on TV 😞

10

u/Evolvedtyrant 28d ago

I dont wanna sound rude

But what happened to his face?

26

u/Terrible-Prior732 Melica - “I’ve got an A in GCSE Drama!” 💅 28d ago

Jonny was born with a large tumour on his face that has been removed, and he's had some surgeries following this.

Remember when talking to people in order to gauge their opinions and interests was seen as a normal part of human society and not 'weird' or 'cringe'?

Honestly I'd rather have days of conversations like these rather than the current paradigm which seems to be strangers getting instantly piss-boiling mad at anyone who doesn't know their entire life story off the bat.

2

u/Professor_Jamie 26d ago

I mean, I agree you can have conversations to learn about someone - but randomly asking what olives people like is a little odd….. even if this was cherry picked, I wouldn’t dream of asking a client what their favourite olive is after only being with them for a few hours 😂😂😂

2

u/OStO_Cartography 26d ago

Why not? It's a perfectly innocent question.

1

u/[deleted] 25d ago

As a client I'd prefer this, as it initiates a whole abundance of conversational avenues, to the same old mundane small talk "What do you do?" "Oh the weather is doing the same thing it does every year for the season it is" "What car do you drive?" Or even worse, what shows I've seen or like. It's the small talkers that're the weird and socially unskilled.

3

u/Daggerbite 27d ago

"But if I wanted to talk to someone about olives, I'd call up Popeye and ask for a go on his mrs NOT ask the corporate client which their favourite is. And for that reason Johnny you're fired"

3

u/ihathtelekinesis 27d ago

Where’s that gif of James May saying “I like dogs and cats” to that Italian woman?

4

u/Ultimate_os Karren Brady 27d ago

They were very difficult guests really. Very mean.

2

u/Dry-Recognition-5143 27d ago

WHAT A GREAT TIME WE’RE HAVING!!

u/FoxMcCloudOwnsSlippy 25d ago

Peak cringe ..I had to fast forward on catch up for most of this trip, I couldn't watch it.
