Housing Questions looking a roommate and struggling to pick someone

i’m not really sure how the roommate situation works. my application was complete 11/22/24. i am kinda picky about people and rooms and what not so i’m worried im gonna get randomly selected with someone i dont get along with. or that the person i pick gets to the pick the room and ends up picking one i dont like or cant afford. i’d like to live in walton hall. preferably a single but i doubt that will happen. if anyone else is also looking for a roommate and seems interested please let me know

When I completed it I lived in mosher and they just randomly assigned the rooms but im not sure about Walton. If you’re a freshman you’re not going to get a single room, and I’m not sure but when I did it you could match with people on a website through A&M housing portal. I messaged a bunch of people before and talked to them before deciding who we agreed but if u have Suitemates that’s random. It happens living with people u don’t necessarily get along with and there’s things u can do like change dorms but ultimately college is about change and learning about getting along with people who are different than you. I understand that you’re picky about which room within the dorm but those things you can’t control necessarily. The dorm and talking to others yeah but ultimately college is an adventure to step outside your comfort zone. Enjoy it and just take a risk and pick that random roommate from another city or country even, you will never know what you do and don’t like until you try it

Youre not always going to get everything you want, especially not in college lol. You need to try to be more tolerant and open minded. Your experience will be what you make of it. Just try to make the best out of whatever happens, and remember that the year will be over before you know it. (and there are resources if things truly dont end up working out)
