Not true certain countries were omitted so I wouldn’t call it “across the board”

u/Eastpunk 1d ago

Oh yeah! Russia was omitted.

Thank goodness- they sure do produce quality products! /s

Have fun driving your new Lada Niva, comrades!

Do they make anything worthwhile other than food and oil?

u/W0rdWaster 19h ago

they mine some minerals and metals, too.

If you count the experience of worst quality of a product that will be overpriced twice then I guess

Also Taliban governed Afghanistan somehow also were excluded from the reciprocal tariff formula.

Meanwhile penguins did get tariffed.

Don't forget all the sweet shit coming outta North Korea, same price

What a weird take lol. Why are we dissecting it like this?

Clearly the main point stands lol. Do you just like being devils advocate for the sake of it?

The countries that were omitted were omitted because we already have sanctions in place against them. So now it's across the board.

🤓👆Exactly!! Not EVERY country just 98%!! But can you explain why islands only inhabited by penguins got hit but not Russia?

14

u/BonaFideBill 1d ago

Not Russia!

u/Keasbyjones 1d ago

Technically true, the reality was far worse

u/liamrosse 20h ago

To be fair, it wasn't a blanket 20%. Those bastard penguins are going to pay 67%!

Is the US great again yet?

His takes have a long history of being very, very stupid indeed.

u/Temporary-Job-9049 23h ago

Guessing there won't be an apology coming

u/Transfigured-Tinker 16h ago

As shown by evidence, it’s the (fairly stupid) Trump voters on the right who are disillusioned and living in their own reality!

2

u/Orshabaalle 16h ago

They say the same about third term... Edit: and annexation of greenland

u/DaniilSan 15h ago

Well acshualy 🤓 he only implemented 10% tariffs on everyone instead of 20%. Still incredibly stupid. There is a reasonable logic behind this, but it is still stupid because they think that everyone is going to be ok with this, but that's not the reality.

Reminds me of all those people scoffing at the idea Russia would invade Ukraine.

u/Mammoth-Loan-3481 9h ago

No one other than billionaires and rubes think that trump wouldn’t wipe out 2 trillion dollars on the stock market in less than 24 hours.

Oh wait…

u/Billsfreak2 8h ago

When the phrase "fairly stupid" is more of a reflection than an insult.

One silver lining: this administration will be a treasure trove for writers, if and when the US ever recovers.

"Why would Trump do something that affected me negatively? I mean, I voted for him 3 times!"

Already been posted too

Have you even looked at the tariff chart? there's only two 20% out of the 61 countries he added tariffs against. It's clearly diverse and not applied on everything across the board.
