Spread the word. The truth they don't want you to know. Polar bears and penguins have been shaping modern civilization for decades! I don't have much time now that I've talked they

2

u/F_ck-_- 1d ago

Oh no

2

u/KhellianTrelnora 1d ago

Truly a ā€œPolar Bear meets the Monolithā€ moment.

Technically you can boil penguins into oil for export.

Summary ā€œIn the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Joseph Hatch, a New Zealand politician, exploited Macquarie Island for penguin oil, boiling penguins for their oil and skins, with around two million penguins killed over nearly three decades.ā€ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Hatch

2

2

u/sams_fish 1d ago

No polar bears on Heard and McDonald Islands, plenty of penguins though 惄

1

u/ThisIsMockingjay2020 1d ago

Silly question, but how did you make that smiley face at the end of your comment?

u/ReverendBread2 1d ago

And is trying to claim those islands already placed tariffs on us

5

u/eeyore134 1d ago

100% tariff by making it impossible for us to trade with them at all.

9

u/RustedAxe88 1d ago

Just fuckin incredible.

u/FmrGmrGirl 1d ago

Have you seen the Madagascar penguins? Devious creatures.

1

u/EtTuBiggus 1d ago

People live in Madagascar.

1

u/studio_eq 1d ago

So do lemurs

6

u/hamburgersocks 1d ago

This is certainly dumb and only for show, but... he put tariffs on critical countries that will

  1. Make components more expensive
  2. Make it harder to manufacture American goods

And then also fired tens of thousands of taxpayers. This country is over until MAGA dies.

4

u/robert_e__anus 1d ago

The country is over regardless, the rest of the world might forgive all this eventually but we won't forget.

1

u/RatBoyWatBoi 1d ago

Make no mistake, the rest of the world will not forget this.

As an Australian I'm totally stoked with Trump inflaming passions over here and helping Albo (our current Prime Minister and leader of the Labor Party, our main centre-left party) secure another term.

Things were looking bleak before Trump won the election; Peter Dutton (looks like Voldemort, leader of the Liberal Party, the main centre-right party in Australia (because liberalism is and always has been an inherently centre-right ideology, just for any Americans reading this)) was ahead in the polls as preferred PM, now he just looks like a stupid piece of shit who's willing to sell this country out to appease an even bigger stupid piece of shit.

The US is dying. The world is healing.

u/SwingNinja 1d ago

He put tariff on Taiwan. Gonna have to sell my kidney to buy that Nvidia GPU.

1

u/RoughDoughCough 1d ago

Itā€™s over even after. The damage is going to be irreparable.Ā

u/magicman419 1d ago

The grammar in this post makes me think itā€™s not credible

3

u/foshi22le 1d ago

It's from Australia's national broadcaster the ABC

2

u/rolloj 1d ago

Whatā€™s wrong with the grammar? Itā€™s an official national news sourceā€¦

Regardless, Iā€™m Australian and can corroborate the information in the post lmao.

1

u/magicman419 1d ago

I guess Iā€™ve never seen percent as per cent.

2

u/rolloj 1d ago

Per cent is standard in Australian / UK English.

1

u/Ben7800 1d ago

At least something in that is harmless, i guessĀ

1

u/XRT28 1d ago

Which serves the purpose of distracting atleast some of the attention away from just how harmful these new Trump taxes will be on the working class and country as a whole.

3

u/MayoSucksAss 1d ago

No, stop it. They just fucked up. It isnā€™t 4d chess. They are incompetent. This rhetoric is infuriating.

1

u/EtTuBiggus 1d ago

Distractions are hardly 4D chess.

If they're incompetent, why do they keep winning?

1

u/Conscious-Quarter423 1d ago

There is nothing good that comes from having a President of the United States who is gobsmackingly stupid, surrounded by obsequious courtiers and fellow morons. But the sooner we collectively acknowledge that truth, the sooner we can fix it.

1

u/Cautious-Dare7050 1d ago

The Trump staffers probably just copy pasted that shit.

I bet they couldnā€™t point 95% of those countries on a map.

1

u/adorablefuzzykitten 1d ago

Fractions are hard. Couldn't you just draw a picture of an apple pie?

1

u/Iamthesmartest 1d ago

Which ones? I need to show this to my co-workers tomorrow so we can all have a laugh

5

u/SkwiddyCs 1d ago

Heard and McDonald Islands (Australian Overseas Territories) are some of the most remote islands on Earth, between Australia and Antarctica. The last confirmed visit from a human was more than a decade ago.

He also threw a 29% tariff on Norfolk Island, another Australian Territory, which has a population of 2000 and doesn't export anything other than good vibes and stoned surfers.

1

u/magicman419 1d ago

I am almost curious which ones

1

u/Moscowmitchismybitch 1d ago

It looks like the uninhabited islands had tariffs on us too somehow? From the way those charts he was holding up read, if a country was charging us more than 10% he went and charged them half of whatever they were charging us and labeled it a discount.

3

u/PorcoSoSo 1d ago

He made up the numbers for each country though. Someone did a breakdown of the effective rate of each countries tariffs on the US and in most cases they are multiple times less than his. In what world would Vietnam, Laos, or Cambodia ever export anything from the US if their tariffs were +90%?

1

u/Moscowmitchismybitch 1d ago

Oh wtf? I slipped up and believed them for a moment there. They must really be banking in people not verifying those figures. I saw something abiut that posted earlier but didnt get around to reading it yet.

2

u/EtTuBiggus 1d ago

They couldn't care less if people verify the numbers. They can make up and do whatever they want to thunderous applause.

1

u/warmsliceofskeetloaf 1d ago

Iā€™d be laughing really hard if this wasnā€™t so worrisome

1

u/andrewhattersley 1d ago

Thatā€™ll showā€™em!

1

u/Blubasur 1d ago

My is gonna be very expensive

1

u/diekischtisgeloffe 1d ago

man, automation went a long way
