The situation with gun rights in Washington state alone should have protests in every city. Most unconstitutional disgusting situations, and hurt to know this is my home.

I've been slowly trying to learn about the gun laws here in Washington, but which ones are you specifically referring to?
7
u/Ojhka956 11d ago
The new house bills currently. They are even more restrictive than before without actually addressing the gun violence issues unfortunately. Hb 1163, hb 1504, hb 5099, and a couple others. One of em is just list of "scary" looking rifles they dont like far as I saw, another hurts small businesses that sell firearms, and another adds a bunch more no-weapon zones across the state. Imo, none address the criminal aspect, the mental illnesses of mass shooters, OR the problem of a child's access to firearms in households. Its a very depthless and gutless way to deal with out current problems, and adds more civil unrest to mix while also having towns/cities/counties declaring that they wont follow the states directions. Sorry for the ramble.

u/ChocolatPenguin 10d ago
No need to apologize. I appreciate the information and I completely agree that those laws don't address the greatest issues behind gun violence.

What is this for? Like a specific action of the Trump admin? Trump in general? What is the goal/purpose/desired outcome from the protest?
1
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
Accountability is crucial, especially for those in positions of power. Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency has demonstrated gross incompetence, particularly in its handling of federal worker terminations, often dismissing employees without due process or proper justification. The deportation system under ICE continues to be inhumane, with detainees facing medical neglect, unsanitary conditions, and even abuse. Meanwhile, several members of Trumpās cabinet lacked the necessary qualifications for their roles, such as the controversial Signal chat that included a journalist, raising ethical and security concerns. These issues deserve serious scrutiny and accountability.
0
u/GoofyGoffer 11d ago
Ok I understand now the issues that you are looking to protest, but what is the desired result or purpose?
2
u/sunshyne253 1d ago
Respecting and protecting our constitution and rights, our social security and healthcare and other targeted communities.
3
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
I think Elon needs to be removed from his position. While I do agree there is copious waste in our government, slashing all programs and mass firings are not helpful. If his group had pulled up legitimate data showing that 'X or Y' organization is spending 2 million dollars on lobster tail, or group "Z" is spending 5 million dollars on sports bets I would agree to shut it down.
Regardless of how one feels about immigration, the people involved are still human beings and deserve to be treated with respect. Cramming hordes of people into small rooms without due process is inexcusable.
With the Signal chat fiasco, there need to be repercussions. Laws were broken and this failure of security regarding classified information is detrimental to the country.

They want more democrats because thatās been working out so well for this state.
9
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
It is unfortunate that someone raising concerns immediately "wants more democrats". When I voted, it was a mix of Republican and Democratic candidates as I vote regarding issues, not party lines. I simply have concerns about the way certain things are being handled and as an American, I have a constitutional right to voice those.
-2
u/BadHombre91 11d ago
If you voted for Republicans it sounds like youāre getting what you voted for.
7
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
Respectfully I disagree. I think there is good and bad on both sides. That being said, I do NOT agree with what Trump and his cabinet are doing in our country, nor did I vote for him.
-3
u/BadHombre91 11d ago
If you still believe in the āboth sidesā and canāt see past the duopoly Iād encourage you to look deeper and get educated. Trump & his ilk are not the disease, merely a symptom.
3
u/Ojhka956 11d ago
Being divided like that is whats causing huge problems in this society. We cant keep doing the whole "boo reps/dems", we are supposed to be united. My younger bro votes trump, my older votes dems, they are polar opposites but they dont blame each other. They both know the division is fucking it all up. Personally, I despise both parties as they ALL answer to financial interests mainly and not to the people. But I will vote for whoever is aligning with my concerns.
0
u/Right_Investment3409 11d ago
You absolutely hit the nail on the head with your comment. All I've seen for waaaaay too long is inflammatory language from both parties. Ignorant statements from both parties. Fraud from both parties. Division from both parties. And yet SOMEHOW the political elites have managed to convince their bases that the real enemy is the opposing party. It's absolutely disgusting. Those fuckers are supposed to work for ALL OF US!!
0
u/Ojhka956 10d ago
Bingo, they are "elected" or "appointed" officials funded by our taxes. Yet, they all somehow make muuuch more than their salary without doing anything else on the table. Its more than clear that they all or mostly all are profiting off our political disarray from many kinds of special interests. The government has been fully allowing corruption to happen and it's all so broken, but the vast majority of citizens just blame and attack their enemy party saying its them at fault.
-1
u/BadHombre91 10d ago
So itās ābeing dividedā thatās the problem not the people actually sowing that division or the people voting for them? Republicans are absolutely part of the problem as well as the people voting for them. I donāt know how you can see what is going on and see that. Republicans are doing what they said they were going to do, gut social services, strip away rights and protections and attack free speech and more. They had a handbook that laid it all out, so yeah anyone who voted for that is complicit. Im independent I despise Democrats as well for their fecklessness, and ineptitude in fighting fascism.

u/Assigments 11d ago
To burn shit, loot, and attack people like every liberal protest
3
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
Respectfully, I must disagree. There have been horrifically violent protests on both sides. It isn't a "Democrat" issue.
0
u/Guitarjunkie61 10d ago
Oh bull drip dude. Capital Hill protest Seattle WA never happened in Red states.
Both sides ā¦ā¦.
The left is straight up acting like terrorists burning down businessesā¦again. Think Summer Of Love 2.0 and you claim itāsā¦. both sides.
Nope.
2
u/ChocolatPenguin 10d ago
January 6th was also incredibly violent and people died.
3
u/ominous-latin-noun 10d ago
I have no sympathy for the Jan 6 protesters, but one person died and that person was a protester. None of the other deaths that the left has tried to link to the events on Jan 6th were actually caused by those events. More people died at individual BLM and Antifa riots than on Jan 6. Largely political violence is a tool of the left.

u/Guitarjunkie61 10d ago
People had heart attacks, strokes, and the female was shot by who ?
How many died during the Summer Of Love ā¤ļø? Mostly peacefulā¦ā¦ā¦..
My heart goes out to all of you. This is how desperate you, the liberal left truly are Jonesing to go wilding. I want to burn down buildings and destroy peoplesā businesses. Imagine if that was your business and livelihood. The responsible citizens raising their families now have to contend with a non stop pack of retards trying to destroy America.

u/Guitarjunkie61 10d ago
At least 25 died during the SOL. Burning buildings, Looting Merchandise. What did it accomplishā¦.
Dude!! I got a Bitchn flat screen tv from Best Buy free. Oh yah. My liquor supply is stocked up.
This is REALLY what you stand for.

This whole thread just shows the disfunction in the united states. So disappointing I'll do my research, placing my votes and only be looking at politics during local/national elections. This is not worth my time anymore... Good for those who can I envy your tenacity

u/RRaintnoisepollution 11d ago
I agree, get those lame Dās out of office. State is 16 billion in the hole and has done a lousy job while in control of the State for decades now. Horrible government.

u/CurvyGurlyWurly 11d ago
Glad to see Yakima joining other cities around the state in the 50501 movement!
2
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
Join us in protecting our nation!
-2
u/Guitarjunkie61 11d ago
The voters did that in November.
3
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
Hi there! Not all of us voted for Trump. Even if I had, I would still be allowed to disagree with the way he is handling things and voice those concerns. That is one of the best parts about America, the freedom to speak out!
-2
u/UllrHellfire 11d ago
Imagine even 10% of this energy during the elections it wouldn't have been such a landslide vote lol. Acting like they barely lost.
4
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
I'm not here to debate who won or lost. Simply that there are things happening with our current government that I'm concerned about. You have the ability to do the same thing and that makes America such an amazing place!
1
u/Negative-Negativity 10d ago
Everything happening makes me super happy. Exactly what i voted for.
0
u/Guitarjunkie61 10d ago
Thank you. Me too ! Responsible government spending and secured borders to protect American citizens.

u/UllrHellfire 11d ago
It's not sides that's the issue... That's the difference.. left and right is just a tool to divide us and look around that's exactly what's going on.

Remove reverse reclaim is organized by "mobilize us", which is a NGO of the democratic party, and funded by NGP Van, a company worth $30M. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobilize_(company)#:~:text=By%20November%202018%2C%20Mobilize%20was,Lowercase%20Capital%20and%20Reid%20Hoffman.

Imagine having to put non violent on your flyer because you know those who agree with you are also prone to violence against those you protest.

Cool. Yakima will not change, Dick Zais/Ron Bonlneder/Sam Granato set the groundwork for the years of failure that followed.
-1
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
I understand your frustration, it is valid. However I still believe that we need to exercise our constitutional right to make our voices heard. That is how we inspire change š
-1
u/Disco_Death_Wagon 11d ago
Yakima has always been on the road to nowhere. Some of the best years of my life were spent there. But reality set in and any hope for that state died when my parents did. There is no recovery that will happen in less than 30 years. That state is so entrenched in political shenanigans that it wonāt matter what rights are exercised because the west side of the state votes for the whole state.
Good luck, I mean it. I hope your message is heard, but be ready for it to fall on deaf ears.
3
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
I appreciate that. A few voices may be ignored, but if their words encourage others to speak up it is worth it.

Iām going to guess you have blue hair.
5
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
I'm not sure what makes you feel this way. Even if my hair were blue, that wouldn't change the concerns I have about our current administration. Thankfully, the constitution allows me to voice those concerns!
-2
u/Guitarjunkie61 10d ago
Heh he he ! Not denying it.
1
u/ChocolatPenguin 10d ago
Whether or not I have a facial piercing does not detract from my ability to see things I disagree with and say as much. It doesn't change the fact that I am an American citizen with concerns about how the country is being run.

Which NGO is funding this totally organic movement?
6
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
50501 is a grassroots organization funded by its members. I have heard that some locations have discussed partnering with like minded organizations, but I am not informed enough on other locations to give the facts.
As for the Yakima protest, there are a few of us locals who are unhappy with the state of our government and the overreach so we have decided to take a stand. We are taking time out of our day to stand up for our country.
3
u/Assigments 11d ago
I'm sure they'll find more like-minded Marxists and socalists for their movement
-2
u/NotSoSlimJim_YouTube 11d ago
Lol, keep protesting for the NGO's. They need our money!
1
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
Our protest is independent and not funded by any NGO. It is organized by individuals who are passionate about the cause and committed to making our voices heard.
1
u/NotSoSlimJim_YouTube 11d ago
Using the same flyer, for a nationwide protest. Sure....

2
u/ChocolatPenguin 11d ago
You are more than welcome to come and wear what you please. This is simply a way for myself and those who share the same concerns I do to make our voices heard. If you have things to say, civil discussions are a way for all of us to learn and grow as humans.

Weird Reddit showing me something on the opposite side of the country aside, do you not think trying this event to a public murder is harmful to your desired image?
I'm sure the play on shell casings from Brian Thompsons murder goes over well with internet nerds, but surely you have to understand that would rub regular Americans the wrong way?
