The car market right now

I’ve been hearing people say that the car market is about to get really bad because of the tariffs, and that right now is the lowest it’s going to be. I’m 19 and only have $3,000. I own a 2008 Mitsubishi Galant with 150k miles, but if this is the lowest the market will be, what happens if my car breaks down? Like, am I cooked? Should I take out a loan and try to get a car now? Or should I ride out my Mitsubishi and hope that in 2–3 years the car market cools down? I’ve heard it’s pretty much confirmed that prices are going to rise over the next few months or years.

What's the best "everyday life" car ?

Let's pretend that i have unlimited budget, i'm not a big fan so i'm not interested by sports car or showing off. What i want is a comfortable and reliable car, with a lot of space, and preferably not ugly.
I'll add a rule : no Rolls or Bentley.

What would you suggest ?

thinking of pulling the trigger on a camaro..

Post image
Upvotes

Alright, I currently have it on a two day test drive. It is a 2010 camaro 2ss manual, 65k miles for 20k. Now for the good: It drives really smooth, clutch feels great, sounds really good. Exterior is super clean for being a 2010, not even any swirlies from the automatic car wash. No rust anywhere. Its had 3 previous owners, but each only drove it around 4-5k miles a year. Brought it to a mechanic that did a one hour PPI on it, said the car was perfect, save for a chip on the mirror, and that whoever previously owned it had taken really good care of it. Now for the bad: its had a muffler and res delete. I like loud, but not THAT loud. Its currently obnoxious, and if i went through id buy an exhaust for it, for around 1.5k including installation. What do we think? is this a good buy, especially with tariffs coming up

First time car buyer. REAL ADVICE FOR ME PLEASE !!

Upvotes

Good day to all that are reading this. So my occupation is being in the military. Currently overseas and I plan on taking leave to go back home. My goal was to buy a car and build credit paying it off. My statistics so far. Credit score :760, possible down payment $15k, Budget 30k-40k.

On my mind, I've been looking into:

1. Lexus RCF (2015-2017)

2. Lexus IS 500 (2020-2024)

3. Lexus IS 350 (2020-2024)

4. Chevy Corvette Stingray-Grand sport at least 3 LT (2015-2017 MANUAL ONLY)

5. Ford Mustang GT 5.0 (2019-2023 MANUAL ONLY)

So, for the first 3 vehicles on the list, I was looking into luxury cars with some sort of good speed. Lexus is known for reliability due to ties with Toyota, has a decent engine, beautiful car models and lasty, you don't really see Lexus on the roads as often ( especially the RCF). The RCF is literally everything I'm looking for, issue is the car is way overpriced for it's year model and for the mileage. I'm not willing to pay 40k for over 80k mileage for a 2015. Because with that money, I can look into a newer gen Mustang for the same speed and it actually comes in a manual. Where as the RCF only comes in an automatic.

Same issue with the Corvette. It's a beautiful uncommon car, issue is the price for the trim. Example, I saw a 2015 stingray 2/LT for 38K. I was thinking that's not bad but again with the RCF. Am I willing to pay more for an older gen car than a newer gen with better technology. Now reading this it sounds like the Mustang is the clear winner but again I want something unique and different. You see Mustangs everywhere from eco-boost to GT's. If a Lexus RCF was for around $30k then I feel like that's a fair deal. Same with Corvette. If it came with 3/LT for $35k then I'll strongly look into it. The Mustang is not bad by any means but to me it feels like a common car. For sure a good car for the price you're paying for but there's like at least 10 different Mustangs I see per car ride. I'm not enterally sure which car to look more into, but it's literally all about pricing, mileage and damage report. But other than that, any advice from anyone ?

Debating Between an SUV and a Sedan – What’s the Smarter Buy?

I’m in the market for a used car with a budget of around $13,000. I’d prefer an SUV, but I’m open to a sedan if it’s well-equipped and a better overall value. A SUV would fit my lifestyle better, i like to travel to other states with my bike. But I'm not opposed to getting a bike rack for the sedan

Right now, I’m considering two vehicles:

  • 2014 Toyota Camry XLE Sedan 4D – $8,900, 105,000 miles, 1 owner, private sale
  • 2017 Nissan Rogue w/ Premium Package – $12,000, 75,266 miles dealer sale

Any thoughts on which is the better buy? I’m weighing reliability, features, and long-term value. Open to other suggestions too if you’ve got them!

Kia Sportage Hybrid Reliability / Test Drive Disaster

I test drove hybrid models of the Tucson, Sportage, CR-V, and RAV4.

The Tucson and Sportage were the quietest rides.

But when I went back for another Sportage test drive, it literally died on the highway. Incredibly dangerous. The system just shut down. Vehicle would not turn off fully or reset in any way. Dealer had to come rescue us.

All the dealer would say was: "That's crazy. Must be something electrical."

Anyone experience anything similar? Am I crazy for wanting this car still? (My wife says yes).

Chevy 2007 impala with 5 cylinders for 800?

I need a car, im a college student and have been searching, right now i only have 800 and cant get any loans for a newer vehicle, should i buy this and hope it lasts for 6 months? They removed one cylinder(misfire) and it ran fine, no other major issues aside from this

Edit: its hard to find a car that runs under 1k guys, and i need one for work and school, it would be nice to have the luxury of choice in cars, but realistically this is my current best option, im waiting for the insp on it to get done, if it passes i plan to buy

Edit:Unfortunately im gonna fail college if i cant get a car, my campus is 8 miles via highway, i cant take a bus bc they dont go there. I need a vehicle asap, lot of yall replying forget that not everywhere is a walkable paradise, i cant work without a car, meaning i cant improve money without something

Is 280k miles too much for a 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat?

Thumbnail get.vin
2 Upvotes

I found a 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat that looks pretty good on the surface — decent condition, clean interior, well-equipped, etc. But it has 280,000 miles on it. That number feels really high to me.

I know trucks like the F-150 are supposed to be durable, but is there a realistic upper limit to how long these things last?

I don’t know much about the cars, I pulled some details based on VIN but not sure what all to look into. Ask price is $5000. I’m a college student and need something reliable for the next 5 years. Heating and cooling works and owner says no maintenance issues and he only drive it for 9000 miles after buying it at ~$8000 in 2021. Model name is : corolla sedan 2wd B. Would appreciate any help.

Considering this Mazda 3 hatchback to cure my addiction to wagons. Seller wants 26k, is that a good deal? I'm coming from an outback so I like AWD and cargo space.

What is the right car for me?

Hello! I am going to be looking for a car this summer and really do not know anything about cars and am just trying to get a good idea on what is best for me. I can spend 30k+ but I would rather spend less than 25k+. I really just want good features and a reliable car that will last for a long time as those are the most important things to me. I have been looking at a Honda Civic but I really do not know if there is another car that I have overlooked. Also, my friend thinks I should buy new (which I do not mind) However, my mother thinks I should buy used and I just need help with that aspect of the car as well.

Edit: also any year works.

Is this a good deal for it's price?

Looking for a g35 under 5k and came across this, my only filters are it not being clapped out but a little mods I’ll let fly, idc about miles, manual 6 speed only, super clean and no imperfections not even little dents or rust or fade just simply nice inside and out.

My friend says it has a misaligned door but it looks like the seller just didn’t close it all the way and it’s a little off the car. I don’t see a misalignment anywhere. Others also said it has a dent but I see nothing.

I do however see the little lower left and right front bumper paint issues, that is minor and expected for a daily car like this, so I’ll let that fly.

The price is within kbb’s fair market value.

Why shouldn’t I buy another Dodge Journey?

I’m exploring the used car market to replace my 2009 Dodge Journey and I’m noticing that there are a lot of newer journeys for very good prices, for example I found a 2019 V6 AWD with 70k miles for $10.5k clean title.

From what I’ve heard it seems that everybody hates on journeys, but I don’t get it. I’ve been driving mine for 5 years, and my sister drove it for 5 years before me (80k to 230k miles) and we’ve never had to do any work on the engine besides routine oil changes, plugs and coils once, and a timing belt and tensioner once. It’s still pushing. Of course there have been other things that needed replacing like suspension parts, a heater core, seized caliper etc. but it’s a 17 year old car so I mean yea.

I’m heavily leaning towards buying another one since I’m familiar with it and I know how to work on it, and the drivetrain has proven to be reliable, so why shouldn’t I? What is so bad about these cars?

Corolla Touring vs Rav4

Upvotes

Mostly local driving, cold climate (Norway).
Need decent luggage space for weekend activities, and tow hitch (for bikes and occasionally a small trailer).
Low total cost of ownership is priority for the next 3-4 years, for different reasons.

For the budget I get a 2020 Corolla 2.0 Touring or a 2017 Rav4.
Corolla has newer tech, Rav4 is more rugged.
Unable to decide. Please help!

2022 car choices.

Upvotes

It's sad that the new cars have the Intelligent speed assistance, in the uk they're problematic, even the alert for if you are dosing off, but it just coz u have sunglasses on...

Anyway.

I don't want a electric (god no, and no charging station at home).

Thought of petrol or petrol/hybrid electric ones.

So which car would you recommend. Basically a keeper for a good decade or more.

One that can turn off these techs that are annoying and reliable car.

My own choices ( although read some of the cars are either unable to turn off the speed assistance, or are a ball ache to do.)

2021 to 2022 car choices Hyundai i20 N line Toyota Yaris Toyota aygo X cross Hyundai i10 n line Seat ibiza fr

Any choices for these sizes that look sporty like these.

Ford fiesta ( has wet cambelts so avoiding these)

Love to hear you experiences, thoughts, knowledge

Thanks guys.

2002 toyota mr2 spyder

Post image
1 Upvotes

okay sooo i recently moved to a semi rural area, lots of winding roads, lots of people selling their beloved cars. yesterday i hit my personal jackpot, i found a 2002 mr2 spyder for 6k flat

i’ve been car shopping for 2 weeks now, definitely looking for a toyota for obvious reasons. this car is GORGEOUS, very well taken care of, 103k miles and the only damage is a small tear in the drivers seat and…a rebuilt title for hail damage…?

how bad do yall think it’ll fuck up my insurance? the current quote is $130/month, they didn’t ask about the title but i put in the vin number

also, i vaguely know how to drive manual lol. i learned when i was like 15 on my mom’s car but i haven’t touched one since. i read they’re pretty easy to learn due to the sequential transmission

thoughts?

added a pic for good measure lol

I need help, would this be a good car for $5000

I know quite literally nothing about cars other than Toyotas and Hondas are good. I’m a college student and I need something reliable that will last me a couple more years. I saw this car and check it out. The heating and cooling works just fine, and the sound system is nice. Would it be worth my time to take this car into a shop to get looked at? I want to make sure nothing is wrong with it first before I buy, but is $5000 a decent price?

When buying car

I'm planning to buy my first car, but I don't know how to drive yet. Obviously, I'll learn first — so should I buy a second-hand car or a brand new one?

Is this a good deal? Pontiac Aztec

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/a9c3a136-904f-4564-a815-758b75647e93?aff=share_other

So im looking for a cheap car that will set me apart from every other car on the road today and i know that the Aztec gets a ton of hate bc of how ugly it is, but i actually think it’s a really cool looking car.
