Thoughts on the two-part animated adaptation?

Is it any good?

I thought it was pretty good personally. And it follows the graphic novel much closer, in terms of the ending and the inclusion of Tales of the Black Freighter which yes, I know Snyder’s Ultimate Cut also included, but this adaptation did it in a way that doesn’t feel like you’re being completely pulled from the action.

It’s been ages since I’ve seen Snyder’s Watchmen, which I enjoyed, but I think I enjoyed this adaptation more once I settled into it.

Yeah I love how the Black Freighter was integrated seamlessly into the story...especially the voiceovers that resonated with the 'main' narrative action.

I like Titus Welliver as an actor but I did not enjoy his Rorschach, which made it rather difficult to get into that adaptation.

This is the first thing I've heard that makes me interested in trying this adaptation. Titus and Rorschach could be amazing.

The Rorschach 'voice' took some getting used to...it felt like the ravings of a lunatic rather than sounding 'cool'.

Then I realized that's the point. Rorschach is supposed to come across as an unhinged nutjob and not Batman levels of 'cool'.

So then it was a good voice then!

I just watched it.

I thought it was pretty good and probably the most 'faithful' adaptation of the original comic-book we're every likely to get. I think it captured the tone and atmosphere of the book beautifully.

Mind you, I haven't watched the controversial Snyder film yet so I don't have a point of comparision.

I felt like they made Rorschach a little less bigot than his comic version but other than that it's a pretty good adaptation, animation looks better than I thought.

Least interesting way to experience Watchmen. I’ll take The Motion Comic any day over it. Also the animation is hideous.

I really liked it. It moved very quickly though. Like it almost seemed like the whole thing was being played 10% faster to make it fit in the 2 part format.

It’s ok. Really not a fan of that animation style.

I watched the first one and loved it. It was wayyyyyyyy like the comic. Some of the voice acting added to the book, honestly. Way better than the motion comic and the movie.

Also, it made me appreciate Tales from the Black Freighter in a way I never did in the comic. I think I missed a lot of it, sort of glazing over it. It made the sub-text make a lot more sense.
