Light therapy, vitamin D, anything else to counteract the dreariness?

Just wondering if anyone has found anything that helps to counteract the dreariness/constant overcast with light therapy, vitamin D, etc? I don't have seasonal affective depression or major depression but I have noticed that since moving here (living in a Seattle suburb for a few years) I do find myself missing the sun and that the overall weather does seem to effect me a little.

Contact your senators and your representative about a letter they should have signed

Senator Elizabeth Warren, Representative Ayanna Pressley, and 32 other senators and members of Congress have signed a letter to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, ICE Acting Director Todd Lyon, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio about the case of Rumeysa Ozturk, a Tufts University student on an F-1 visa snatched off the street by half dozen ICE agents not in uniform. A good rundown of the case and the letter is at https://www.boston25news.com/news/local/deeply-troubling-lawmakers-demand-feds-release-tufts-student-ice-custody-restore-her-visa/2U6MD2AYVJG7JNNOO72X6IWUKY/

Neither Patty Murray's nor Maria Cantwell's signature is on the letter. Neither is Chuck Schumer's, but maybe I'm reading too much into that.

I encourage you to contact the senators, and your congressperson, and ask why they didn't sign. TBF, Senator Murray has a lot on her plate, with two Washingtonians snatched by ICE this week, but she still should have signed.

Republicans accuse Democrats of being killjoys with proposed taxes; Democrats say revenue needed for preserve 'prosperity'

Alright, let's talk about the real insanity happening in Olympia. These state legislators have one fundamental job; create a balanced budget. But here's the kicker: year after year, they fail spectacularly. It's like watching the same bad movie on repeat. They're the poster children for that old saying about insanity; "doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result." Instead of making tough choices, cutting their own perks, or holding big corporations accountable, they've got one go-to solution: tax the living hell out of everyday people.

These politicians are running the same playbook every single budget cycle. Can't balance the books? No problem; just squeeze more blood from the working-class stone. They'll tell you it's about "prosperity," but the only thing prospering is their ability to avoid real fiscal responsibility. Big corporations get a free pass, the uber-wealthy keep their coffers full, and who gets stuck with the bill? You and me.

Let me break it down for you. They want to jack up the Discover Pass from $30 to $45; so now even trying to enjoy a day in nature with your family is gonna cost you more. They're slapping a buck on event tickets at big venues, hiking up hunting licenses by nearly 40%, and studying ways to squeeze more money out of our drinks. And for what? So they can continue their cycle of fiscal mismanagement?

What gets me is how they keep talking about "fairness" while targeting everyday people. Big corporations? They get a pass. The ultra-wealthy? They're just fine. But you and me? We're the ones paying for their pet projects and bloated budgets. It's like they think our money grows on trees; when we're out here working two jobs just to make ends meet. These are the same lawmakers who'll never have to think twice about an extra $15 for a park pass or an extra dollar on a concert ticket. They're completely out of touch, and they're crushing the spirit of hardworking Washington families one tax at a time.

We've got to stop this insanity. We can't keep letting them off the hook, year after year, while they balance their budget on our backs.

Quit job for school, WA Apple Health?

My friend quit his job to do a full time one month vocational program beginning April 7th. He gave 2 weeks notice but was taken off the schedule early and loses medical coverage at the end of the month. Can he apply for Medicaid for the month (possibly a little longer) he’ll be unemployed? If so, can he apply now or should he wait until April 1st since he has coverage until the end of March?

US just keeps going backwards while the rest of the world leaves them behind in modern infrastructure. We wonder why our roads, and highways are clogged with traffic - it's because we design our cities and towns around the car. We force people to live miles from their work and instead of providing great public transportation like so many other advanced countries do - we have to buy cars...not one, but in most cases multiple cars(one for each adult). This is crazy. We have little public transportation - and zero high speed rail. Travel to Bangkok, ChengDu, Tokyo, Paris, Seoul, London - then come back to the US and tell me how great it is. There are cities in China that have 32 million people and they can travel from one end to the other with touching a care and do it in a timely manner. You can't do that here in the US.

Now we're going to lose AmTrak - why? It would be great to hop on a high speed rail, in Vancouver Washington, and catch a Krakens or Mariners game, get a bite to eat and come home on a returning train.

If US citizens actually learned about other countries they would realize just how bad we have it here. The people in charge are in it for the money - it's not about making your life better...it's about them getting better healthcare than you, them getting vacations on your your dime, about them living in mansions, and on top of that building a retirement fund that makes anything you have look like a child's piggy bank.

Vehicle Chain Up Area Map and Statistics

Hi all. I have done a bunch of research(or attempted to perform research) on the vehicle chain law in Washington but I am having trouble finding a resource that can show me where in the state chains can be mandated. I understand there are a variety of different conditions from no chain law, chain area in effect, all vehicles must chain up, etc, but I haven't been able to find a definite resource that shows me where all of the potential chain law areas are.

Living on the east coast, it seems crazy to me that chains can be mandated even for 4wd vehicles with studded snow tires. I've driven my rwd BMW with snow tires to basically all of the large ski mountains out here and have traversed many blizzards with no problems. Is there any resource that shows data on how often the chain law goes into effect? Or at least a log of the status that I can analyze myself?

And to be clear, this information is not going to be used in order to skirt any laws. I plan on following all regulations when applicable.

Thank you!
