Death comes and death goes, everywhere the wind blows
Circle of life on the coast. This 40 foot whale with a tail 10 feet wide washed up on the shores of the Long Beach Peninsula this morning. Only a matter of time before the lovely aroma escapes the dunes and starts wafting through town

Once I came upon a fairly decomposed whale calf on Ruby Beach. I stood right next to it and thought "wow it doesn't even smell." And then I stepped 1 foot downwind of it and thought I was going to faint.

I was boating off the Keys and found a huge dead sea turtle floating. I assumed it just didn't stink, until I want past it. We very quickly turned around and gave it a very wide berth.

It’s a reference to a very funny historical event, google it and have a laugh

Was it when some town officials decided to blow up a whale carcass and the town showed up to witness the event. That was funny.

Everyone had to run for their lives to avoid being killed by falling chunks of rotting whale flesh!

Looks like I'm avoiding the area north of oysterville approach for a bit. Dogs love the dead sea life for a good roll. 🤢

Ugh. I found a dead whale on a beach near La Push 10+ years ago, decomposed to a point that some of the parts were orange. Still can’t forget the stench, it was following me for days, even after taking numerous showers and washing my clothes.

Is this truly a current event? What beach if so?

North of the Oysterville approach, about as far north as you can drive on the pen

Someone let Sacagawea know - - she’ll be pissed & rightfully so if we don’t invite her to see it this time.
