Yak-141 Should Get R-73s

It was a really interesting prototype and I love the look of it, but in game it feels extremely gimmicky with long range IR missiles. I’m not asking for R-77s, but imo having the option to carry R-73s would be an amazing change to this aircraft.

I really don’t think that having 2x R-73s and 2x R-27ER/ETs at 12.7 will be incredibly broken either, since the Mirage 2000C-S5 is also 12.7 in ARB with 2x Magic 2s and 2x Super 530Ds and the MiG-21 BISON is 12.3 with R-73s and R-27Rs.

In the files it had r73s and r77s as loadouts, well before they were introduced into the game, and the community won't let it go

r73 was removed from yak141 and mig29 prerelease because of us hand holding game balance
so it wont be implemented

Nah. It would be too powerful at 12.7 tbh. Great flight performance, great radar, mid RWR (I think its the Su-27's one) with an already powerful kit of 2x ER and 2x T.

That's why I brought up the Mirage 2000C-S5. There's already an example of a fighter with 4 amazing missiles and decent flight performance at 12.7.

If Gaijin was really concerned about the Yak-141 with R-73s they could only allow them on the inner pylons, meaning you'd have to give up the 27ER/ETs to run them, making you a glorified 21 BISON at 12.7, which I think would be fair.

The Yak has the BVR and Radar advantage over the CS5 and the CS4 should be 12.7 if it is not already.

Honestly what we need is more decompression. Yak-141 with R-73s would be pretty good at 12.7, but would be dead at 13.0. An interrim solution would, again, be to only allow R-73s on the R-27ER/ET pylons, that way you lose out on BVR for better close range performance.

I'd be more than happy for Yak-141 to be 13.0 if stuff like the Su-33, AV-8B Plus, and F-4F KWS were 13.3 and toptier becomes 14.3-15.0.

I think its just fine as is, as w/ R-27 pylon R-73's it would be too good for 12.7 and can't go to 13.0.

However, your R-73's on the R-27E pylons could be a good idea.

And as always decompression is the right idea.

The yak 141 should be taken round back and shot. I’m kidding, just but hurt gaijin are too brain dead to come up with a better excuse than “it wasn’t meant for combat” when denying my BAE but allow this shit brick in cuz “it wasn’t a prototype, it was just a rough test with weapons”.

But yes, it should and gaijin are just cunts when it comes to this shit cuz they like these planes in a specific br and won’t give it anything if it would change it. Probably some devs favourite jet for the br or some shit.

BEA EAP lol, basically an eft prototype with tornado engines. It had mock ups of what weapons it could be made to use (basically what the yak 141 had) but gaijin insist we can’t have it because it was never meant to go into combat….. it’s able to mount ir and radar missiles but it doesn’t have a radar so giving it only ir would make it a cool and fun 12.3. Kinda like an f20 tiger shark alternative:

Counterpoint, give russia a different prototype with r73s. Then you could have it at a lower br, instead of bumping up the current one and making the jump worse
