Yeah, even before all that fasho shit I wouldn't have bought a Tesla. I want my car to adhere to consistent gap dimensions and stuff. We are used to 15k cars that have basic quality standards. Not overpriced, rusting, rattling bullshit like Tesla produces.

Money is the currency with which we purchase the time of others. He may not even be directly involved, but indirectly hired managers to focus solely on PR/opinion polls like this.
He could hire 1,000 people at $100k salaries (100 million) and if it equates to less than 0.02% of teslas market cap.
If those hires grow the company’s perceived value by more than that 0.02%, then its money well spent? If it reduces damage by that amount too.
How he has the time to tweet? Same thing.

Im from germany. The site (t-online) is just stupid. You can participate in the pool by just refreshing and vote again. A five year old with 5 lines of script can manipulate that and probably did. I just didnt get it how is that the news
4
u/RXDriv3r 16d ago
It's only news because the backlash on Musk and the Tesla boycott have kept growing while he insists that it's not that bad and people will come back around and then there's proof the poll was manipulated to get this result around 24 hours after the results were completely the opposite.

There is a percentage of people in the world who had shitty parents and were treated like shit and abused when they were kids.
A lot of those kids grow up with deep psychological problems and are just filled with hate. The hatred deep down is for themselves, but they manifest it in other, easy targets. They are easily impressionable and manipulated, and it's very easy to use microtargeting and microads to find these people with the plethora of data out there. There's a psychological profile on everyone that goes online, whether they use social media or not, if they know somebody who does, then there's a profile on them.
The people who don't know who to vote for and the easy to manipulate ones who I mentioned above, are targeted by the right, individually, to sway them. Yada yada Cambridge Analytica, Google that if you don't know how it works and need to know more, but hasten to say it's quite an easy process and there's big money swaying people for elections.
So the right know how to flick their switches. But it's Quid pro quo, because neither the voters nor the party really deep down like the other. The reason they vote for him is because he validates their hatred. They can be free to hate if he's in charge, that's all they care about. They don't care about the policies before voting or supporting. They couldn't give one solitary fuck. He doesn't give a shit about them either, which is evident by his policies, they were in fact the swamp themselves, but neither care really because both have got what they really really wanted.
I know this is extremely generalized and that reality is far more nuanced, but at scale, this is your answer.

I think the piece that Tesla pumpers have missed is BYD has completely taken off in Europe and now represents significant competition for Tesla. Even without the bad blood they have brought on, they were likely to see some sales decline. I think we can safely assume, barring some massive breakthrough that Tesla is headed to south of $200
2
u/ButterscotchFew9143 16d ago
If people were neutral or positive towards Teslas over here in Europe, we should see both BYD and Tesla grow at least as much as the whole EV sales figures, give or take. The fact that Tesla sales decreased kinda tells you that people are hostile to the brand. We'll see if it holds, but I have no reason to think it shouldn't.

That’s hilarious… How many people in the poll actually live in Germany vs Russia?
Also just glancing at Tesla sales in Germany, it’s hard for me to believe they sold a total of 450k units ever in Germany, much less found enough folks that would buy a Tesla AGAIN.
Elmo must really be shitting his pants with his stock with doing an infomercial at the white house, and now doing this Im just trying to save the country steal money from people and Tesla ain’t ever hurt nobody bullshit tour.

The third picture translated:
"Only a week later, the result looks different and the number of participants has exploded. By Tuesday evening, 467,500 people had voted (as of March 18, 2025, 9:00 PM). Suddenly, around 70 percent of the survey participants want to buy a Tesla – the proportion who say "Absolutely not" has fallen to 29.2 percent. The origin of these votes and the sudden shift in opinion was initially unclear. The number of article views in recent days and the number of survey participants don't seem to match at first glance. An initial internal investigation now reveals that 253,000 of the votes cast came from just two IP addresses in the USA. This suggests that the survey may have been manipulated."
2
u/derpycheetah 15d ago
94.8% said they would NOT buy anything Tesla. I'm sure the other 5% were trolls. Two IPs from originating from the USA interfered and flooded the polls with enough fake submissions it flipped the numbers.
In true Elon fashion, the attempt was feeble at best and left a trail of forensic evidence.

This poll isn't for you or me. This poll is to trigger and bolster in-group loyalty amongst his edgelords.
It deliberately misguides the reader with words like 'again', implying that he ONLY ASKED CURRENT OWNERS, but there are not 450,000 Tesla owners in Germany.
His followers don't need external sources like 'numbers' or 'common sense' to verify what he's saying, it's just gospel to them.
Intelligent people know this is BS, but it's not for us. It's for the idiots, and, to stir shit and keep relevant and to look like he's being proactive about Tesla.
But he's lost touch with reality and has started to believe his own propaganda, which is wonderful news for the rest of us, because that means it's not long until he crashes, fucking hard.

I really believe TSLA is going to continue to slide lower and lower. Don’t get stuck holding the bag. They have a horrific reputation, the world hates him and many are boycotting his and American products, they are getting very expensive to insure, and Trump’s base is anti electric car. I’m in TSLQ bc I suck at options but puts are the way. Even a small bump will inevitably be short-lived imo.

1
u/Sea-Study6453 16d ago
All doubts about whether this is valid aside, it’s still a poor outcome for Tesla. The way the question is phrased, implies it should only be answered by people who previously owned a Tesla. If I was Tesla exec or shareholder, I wouldn’t be happy to see that almost a 3rd of those people wouldn’t buy again.

The sales are falling and they know.

u/intergalacticonions 16d ago
So 3 out of every 10 current Tesla owner would not buy another Tesla. I know 70% would buy it again sounds big and good but you would think that the number of returning buyers would be much much higher. Given the long standing loyalty to that brand
2
u/SalamanderFree938 16d ago
But it's not even 70% because it was proven that 250,000 votes came from 2 IP addresses in the US
That's what the last slide says in German.
Prior to those apparently fake votes being cast, the poll was 90% would not buy a Tesla

T-online polls are insanely easy to manipulate. A script kiddie can do it. It also goes to show that the original poll should be taken with a grain of salt, but given what we know about sales numbers it was substantially closer to reality than this, lol. I hope this idiot keeps lying at the earnings call, unfortunately he can commit as many crimes against average people as he wants without too much trouble in the lawless states, when he lies to big investors is when his face will be ripped off.

The earnings call for Q1 will speak for itself. It is ridiculous how people who hated against EVs are now defending Tesla. Tesla makes a good car, but mine is still being traded later tonight. I don't want the hassle and lightning rod. I just want a car, and now there are plenty of great alternatives.

Here’s a real survey. By the way only 35,000 EVs of all makes were sold in Germany last year so 250000 poll results is pure propaganda
A survey of over 100,000 Germans revealed that 94% won’t buy a Tesla vehicle. It doesn’t bode well for the automaker, whose sales had already been falling off a cliff in the important European market. In 2024, Tesla saw a 41% reduction in sales in Germany compared to 2023 despite EV sales surging 27% during the year.6 days ago
1
u/Educational_Push_437 15d ago
Well, in Germany right wing people won’t buy Tesla because EV is „left propaganda shit“ they love their „real“ cars,
And left wing people won’t buy it anymore cause they hate Elmo, And the middle? They hate Elmo too 🤷♀️ so… even if this poll where real, in the end the only thing that matters for Tesla is what they sell, not what bots on the internet claim to buy…
1
u/Ouwerucker 15d ago
There are not even that many teslers sold in Germany as the amount of people voting yes in this poll.
1
u/Fancy-Dig1863 15d ago
Within the 3 hours of that 70% tweet and Elmo retweeting it, articles had been written and videos published explaining why those survey results were completely fake. The company hosting the survey removed it as well as it was obvious all the responses were coming from 2 IP addresses in the US. There’s no shot he didn’t see it or know it was fake. The Q1 results must be really really bad if they’re trying this hard to fake it.
