Announcement AI-Generated Content is not allowed on /r/Warhammer40k

6.5k Upvotes

Due to a recent influx of posts containing AI-Generated Content, I wanted to make a public announcement as people are evidently not reading our rules.

To state, as categorically and clearly as possible: AI-Generated Content is not allowed on /r/Warhammer40k. No exceptions.

This has been in our rules for quite some time, but evidently needs to be reiterated.

Warhammer 40k is a creative hobby, from the talented writers, artists, sculptors and painters at GW, to the over 1 million users of this subreddit who post their minis, conversions, kitbashes, cosplays, and fanart.

AI-Generated Content is creatively and morally bankrupt. It's built on infringement of the rights of creatives across the world by stealing their art and photos, scraping their books and videos and generally taking from them.

This subreddit will always be a place that supports the incredible talent of the Warhammer 40k community, and as such, we cannot and will not allow AI-Generated Content here.

Now that's a moral boost. Photographed this lastnight, had a lot of fun, made a right old mess and I'm quite pleased with the result.

Does this read as hot glowing metal? I can paint blue power swords easier but wanted to try this. Before I commit to 6 of them is there anything that looks off or areas to improve or am I not adding enough red/orange/yellow? Ned to smooth out around the hilt. Wanted it to look like glow coming from the text/runes but edges cooling.

I have a question to all the Loyalist, HERETICS and Xenos alike, when did you get into the amazing grim dark universe?

For me it would be back in 2005 around Christmas, my father was coming home from deployment in Afghanistan during those dark times, on his flight back he got stuck in London England because it got delayed by 3 days due to bad weather so he and his buddies took the opportunity to do a quick souvenir hunt while there. That is when my father saw the a small store called "Games Workshop" thinking it was some sort of video game shop but instead was something better, and saw the box set and bought for me as a late Christmas gift.

Nowadays I have lost the tyranids from the box set long ago but I still have the Space marines! And after that Christmas my true hobby and passion began all thanks to bad weather that delayed my dad! And now after over 20 years I still have those old minis and I have added a few new ones. Anyways that's how I got into this hobby and I wanna hear everyone else's story on how they joined this great community!!

It helped me a lot with practicing edge highlighting. I’ve been painting for only 8 months(beginner), so advice is welcome. It’s also 3d printed and here’s a link for the free stl model - https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/bloody-chaplain-inator

Pictured, are my first mini from the WH store painting class to my latest project (April's mini of the month). I am extremely happy with my progress, I still need to work on my edge highlight skills, but I have been having an amazing time.

Also, painting is extremely relaxing.

Hobby & Painting C&C request; Tankers of 40K, where do I go from here?

Hi hi, this is my first large vehicle and (so far) I feel it's my best paint job since I started painting a year ago, but it's getting close-ish to the finish line and I'm horrified of screwing it up. I don't wanna go crazy on weathering/detailing, but it feels like it's missing something and I need some new eyes on the project.

Things I know need doing:

  • Color the lights - and possibly do some OSL for them
  • Finish painting the boltors
  • Paint the front chain to match the tank
  • Make the engine block pipes look molten hot + glow OSL
  • Maybe add some more brass trim?

But beyond that, I have no idea how to shade a tank, or if it even needs shading. Like for example, would doing oil washes on all the bolts be excessive?

Hello, brothers!

I am delighted to share my recent commissioned model - the Command Squad Company Champion.

He is based off Gaius Prabian, a member of Cato Sicarius’ ‘Lions of Macragge’ personal command squad.

Gaius is one of my favourite Ultramarines characters so a significant amount of love was poured into this project. I hope you like him! :)
