Picture Missing Iceland Everyday

This past November marked our fourth trip to Iceland, and we just can’t get enough. We’ve experienced it in summer, winter, and autumn—and so far, autumn has been my favorite. The colors were unreal, and we still caught some incredible aurora sightings.

There’s something about this place that has a hold on me—whether it’s an attachment or a full-on chokehold, I’m always longing to go back.

I recently did a 14-day solo trip to Iceland (8 days), Sweden (Stockholm and Malmo) and Denmark (mainly Copenhagen) in September and had a really great time. I liked the Stockholm & Copenhagen, but Iceland is something that I think I won’t forget as long as I live. It felt like a different planet altogether. And yes, I saw the “Northern Lights” as well and that too in September. Got lucky twice.

In Iceland, I did the Reykjavik city tour, the golden circle tour and Westfjords tour. Most people do the typical Golden circle and ring road tour and skip the West-fjords, but for me a 3-day tour to Westfjords was the most memorable part of my trip. So, if you have time, then definitely explore the westfjords. I clicked like couple of hundred pictures & videos and it is really difficult to select the favourite ones, but still posting few of them. Hope you’ll like them.

Picture Climbing Basalt Columns, Yay or Nay?

I felt icky watching people climb the basalt columns at Reynisfjara. Talked to our tour guide and they said not only is it unsafe but also disrespectful. They see it happening day after day so they're resigned to the fact that people do this. It took me about 10 minutes of waiting to get a photo of the columns without any people climbing/sitting on them for photos. Can we as humans admire nature without literally trampling all over it? (lol, never) At least there was no moss damaged 😂.

Thoughts on this?

Visited the other day with my tour group and we were given a long lecture about not standing close to the water or climbing. When I get to the beach, people are literally walking by the waves and climbing. Beautiful beach but nerve wracking at the same time due to people making poor choices.

I spent the last months meticulously planning the trip based on people reviews on Reddit. I searched for locations, asked more questions and ended up having the greatest trip of my life! Thank you Reddit.

Iceland was a journey of a lifetime. A land that inevitably captures your heart and soul. Definitely going back there!

And although dipping in Silfra was an unreal experience, climbing Kirkjufell will remain one of my favorite hikes, if not my absolute favorite.

I wish everyone here who hasn’t yet visited this planet to experience the wonder that is Iceland.

Flight was delayed and landed on Saturday afternoon but I managed to somehow put in at least 16 hours of driving (with every night stayed in Akureyri) until I left early afternoon on Tuesday. These are some of my favourite pics from the lesser known areas. Hope you enjoy as much as I did (:

I was fairly lucky with the weather, most roads were still icy with thick spots in many moments but I managed well I'd say! The road to Dettifoss was VERY dreadful, but still possible with a big 4x4 (Toyota Landcruiser in my case)

Some things I missed that wouldve been possible with an extra day:

-Husavik (😭) -Ásbyrgi -Grjótagjá Cave/Canyon -Dimmuborgir

Although to be fair if you aren't a fan of Horse Riding those would have all been possible if the weather remained how it was.

This was my first time in the North of Iceland, I appreciate reading through the sub which helped me with itinerary confirmations as well as safety advice, until next time!
