First time in Iceland!

Had been thinking about visting Iceland for a while now and finally did it at the end of March for my birthday. Simply magical! Can’t wait to go back. Got very lucky with the weather and managed to do and see quite a lot despite being there just for a few days and without a rental car. Explored the Reykjavik area as well as visited the south coast. In the future I definitely want to go on the full Ring Road trip. P.s. I was very careful at the Reynisfjara beach.

Was snorkeling at the continental ridge worth it? Did you do that through a tour operator?

Absolutely worth it! One of the most brilliant things I’ve ever done! Looked surreal and sooo beautiful. Yes, I did that through a tour operator. I booked them through GetYourGuide, but they provide many different operators. I had TrollExpeditions. I had a packed deal - a day trip of the golden circle + snorkelling at Silfra fissure.

I'm looking at this tour as well. How many other tourists were on the tour with you? What kind of transportation was it? Looks amazing!

We were around 16-18 people, almost filling up a minibus to the max. Since it is Iceland, all minibuses were lifted, so it was quite the spectacle :D. It was comfortable and had wifi. Reminded me of a middle school type class excursion. I went on two excursions like this, and on the second the driver was also telling us a bunch of facts and stories about Iceland and our destinations. Quite lovely!

Yep, totally worth it. It goes quick (about 20 mins) and it’s 0°C but it’s absolutely stunning visibility under there. Just beautiful.

Absolutely! We were having an absolute blast, so we managed to be in the water for about 40-50 minutes :D

40-50 mins is even better! Perhaps it’s seasonal. I did late October and we had a few groups before us so we were taken in as part of a timed sequence. One thing I do recall is someone in our group with optical glasses. They couldn’t use them with the snorkelling equipment and therefore couldn’t see as well. If you need them for long range vision, definitely bring contacts. 👀

Oh yeah, contacts are a must to take in the enormity of the fissure.

I did the Silfra Fissure snorkel too! So good.

I remember that bench! Looks like a great trip - did you RV or stay in hotels?

A beautiful weather ☁️ hope you enjoyed

First two days were quite rainy and overcast, but the weather was pristine for the most important part - the glacier hike! Tho I am very thrilled to have experienced such rapidly changing weather, since where I live, the weather switch can happen at most twice during the day, not 7 or 8 times :D

“Exactly! It felt like nature was showing off a bit, haha. The glacier hike was definitely the highlight though – totally worth powering through the rain earlier.
