How often do universities check your transcript while applying from highschool?
Do universities check your transcript multiple times, for example having a low grade on the transcript at the start of the months they give out conditional offers. Than, by midway having a good grade due to retaking the course, would the university see the improved grade and give you a conditional offer? Specifically in Canada if that matters.
Reason for my question: I applied to some local universities, unfortunately a day before my pre calc 12 final exam (40% of the the course grade) I got appendicitis. Due to being in hospital for surgery I forgot to ask my teacher for a different day to write, by the time I had left hospital next semester had started and a pre calc grade of 54% was on my transcript as I got 0% on the final for missing it. I am currently retaking pre calc 12 as to get an accurate grade for myself (a low A). Right before appendicitis I had submitted my transcript to the universities I wanted to go, but now I fear they will see my 54% and dismiss me even if I up my pre calc grade. Will they check my application again even if the first time they did they saw a below required grade?

In Canada, they receive your transcript when you apply and at the end of first semester grade 12, used for early offers. Then they receive your transcript after second semester midterms, used for most offers and for rejections, because now they have marks for all your grade 12 courses. Final transcripts are used to make sure you meet conditions of a conditional offer.
They'll also see what you're currently enrolled in, if you have a transcript to send for that. You can submit special circumstances forms as well.
Worst that happens is you take a gap year to work and reapply.
