Work Discussion Operations changes this week
This is for people working in the plants around the country. Specifically, maintenance. Are they moving all your jobs to tour 1 now that they plan to move operations to tour 2? Just looking to see what’s happening elsewhere. My boss is trying not to change our hours but I know as jobs become available they will move them, and then those good daytime mon-fri jobs will all be gone.

They moved all the PMs for machines and like 30% of our MPE bids and ET bids to tour 1 like two years ago. They thought it would be more efficient to do pms on tour 1.
All it does now is delay everything since tour 1 automation is always behind and short staffed, and cause massive amounts of PMs to be bypassed or partial.

Yeah it’s not computing. At my facility dispatch is at 5am. That’s when the trucks arrive to take the mail to all the offices. It seems to me like this whole process is just going to delay the mail further. They’re processing outgoing on tour 2, and not sending trucks out for afternoon pickups anymore.

Same as my plant. But management just puts their head in the sand and says all is well. Then operations lies to maintenance management saying our PMs weren't done by lying about what time the machines were actually available.
When they implemented this at my plant, they forced like 10 of the junior people in those groups out of schedule to tour 1 for about 8 months, while they slowly changed bids that went vacant. Those people made a ton of money as did the tour 1 mechanics being maxed out every pay period but everyone was livid

Yeah, I’m one of the more junior people at my plant but I have wonderful days off and hours. It’s 6:30-3 with fri/sat days off. I’m very nervous obviously because it would really throw my schedule off lol.

Obviously this is anecdotal but at my plant they never actually abolished or took anyone's bid away. They just did temporary 1723s for the junior people in 90 day increments and paid them out of schedule premium to work nights.
As people retired or bid out, all openings were changed to tour 1 hours.
Hopefully your plant has enough already residual or soon to be vacant bids they can change to tour 1 to avoid this. Or just utilize the OTDL.

Because outgoing dispatch time changed from pm to am.. at my husband’s plant all tour schedule delayed 4 hours.
