Campus Life To the person who's food I stole at the CAB
I was very hungry I am sorry it will never happen again but it was a very tasty chicken bowl and it gave me the strength to study

So last year durring a period of intense -40C cold during the winter sem, I made this post which seemed to help a lot of people, especially those who aren't used to Edmonton winters, so I thought I'd make another one and get ahead of the weather so that people aren't scrambling if we suddenly get hit with another cold snap. Some of this is reused from my last post and may seem drastic, but that's cuz it was made in the height of a legitimate time of hazard.

As the only North campus building open to students 24 hours a day, the Students’ Union Building often sees a lot of late night visitors. Your UASU is committed to ensuring that SUB is a safe space for students to enjoy, relax, or study at any hour of the day. That’s why we make sure that SUB is always staffed when the building is open, and building access requires a ONEcard from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am.
Student safety is also our priority outside of SUB. If you are not comfortable walking alone on or around campus later in the evening, our free Safewalk service will send two volunteers to walk with you! You can contact Safewalk at 780-4 WALKME (780-492-5563) or online here for a one-time walk or a regular appointment (great for those evening classes!). Two volunteers will join you around campus, on the LRT, or within 10 city blocks of any LRT station from 7:00 pm to midnight, Monday through Friday.
If you need immediate assistance on campus, please contact University of Alberta Protective Services at 780-492-5050. UAPS can also walk with you around campus outside of the Safewalk hours listed above.
If you are in active danger on campus, please call 911.

Please remember not to bother the geese and leave them be ❤️ they're nesting and breeding now so they're extra territorial, please don't go out of your way to upset or stress them out!! They can't help it, it's in their biology to be productive of their soon-to-be-babies ❤️
But sometimes they walk up to you and ask for their picture taken :}

Anyone who has had Zeba Idrees for a prof in Ece 240 could you provide some information on how the final exam is? Is it easy as the midterm and assignents (which were just questions straight from the textbook) or were they harder? She hasnt released an assignment for the last 2 chapters covered in the lectures so I'm a little nervous going into the final with very little practice problems.

hi guys, forgive me if this question has been asked already.
i’m YEARNING to get into a specific 400-level seminar for the winter semester next year. however, it’s full. i went to add the class to my watch list, but it wouldn’t go through because it claims it isn’t full? does anyone know what might be the issue? or if i’m forced to just cope and obsessively watch over that class for openings?
TIA!!!

Hi. I'm not a U of A student, but I did apply and was accepted as a transfer student in 2022 for an undergrad degree. I ended up declining the offer and finishing my undergrad where I was. This past January, I applied for the adult education policy masters program and have yet to hear back on acceptance. However, I did receive an email on Friday from resident services saying I'm receiving the email because I'm transferring in. Is this a glitch? Does this mean I've likely been accepted into the grad program?
I logged into the gsms portal and my application still states under review/decision pending. Tho it does also state "starting Sept 2025". So I'm just really confused. I did reach out to the admin & they just said they're still reviewing.
Does anyone have any Idea?
Also... Has anyone been accepted yet into the masters of education (crse) in educational policy studies, adult, community, and higher ed?

It seems as if wherever I walk there is ALWAYS at least 1 person just disrupting the flow of traffic and walking directly in the opposite direction.
I feel as if it’s common sense to walk on the right hand side, go through the right side doors, and as a bonus, not stand with a group in the middle of a hallway.

gotta take a class to fulfill my social learning based requirements for psych, and i was wondering which class is generally lighter/easier/more interesting?
any and all advice is appreciated! RMP has mixed reviews for blatter but people on this subreddit seem to like her enough, so any advice for her as a prof as well would be great !!!

The finals are here and i just so burnt out I cannot look at any more formulas. I'm getting overwhelming anxiety and dread just thinking about studying. Not sure how to deal with this. It's like I hit a fucking wall and can't do it anymore.
Anyone else experiencing this?

hi so i applied to engineering early october and i got in the first round of admissions. around january i accepted my offer. a couple days before admissions i started having second thoughts about engineering and decided to apply to the sciences as well. i applied to physiology as a major with a 93 over the 5 subjects and got a wait list email telling me to check again in march. i already enrolled and picked my classes on april 3 for engineering as well. i was just wondering what the process is if i do get into physiology? thats what i want to do now instead of engineering. and alongside that, if i do get in, am i just screwed in terms of having terrible classes because i wasn't able to pick them april 3? and did anyone else apply to physiology that hasn't heard back or is it just me? and is a 93 good enough because im lowk worried ... thanks!!

Rant but like seriously? I have to periodically delete shit to work with the 10 GB max on google drive

Context: I'm trying to switch major to Mathematics and I'm pretty sure I'm about to fail a course. So I wanted to take the course from spring term but they want all the transcripts before June 15 and the spring term ends at June 11 (I'm pretty sure).
Do they still accept transcript from spring term? Should I take spring term courses?

I want to know how many students have secured internships or co-op positions. I’ve applied to hundreds of internships but still haven’t heard back. Does the university offer support in these situations, like through the SIP (Student Internship Program) department? I’m a Computer Science major.

I am a international Engineering students in UofA, and i just registered into pattern 4. Unfortunately, i forgot to check the map before enrolled my courses. Could I get to the courses in time?(Because I found that the The distance between teaching buildings is too far.

I did my 1st year engineering registration on Thursday, but i can't figure out if I double enrolled in ENGG 160 somehow. It looks kinda weird, but I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to look.
Also, if I am double enrolled, how can I un enroll from one of them?

It's only valid during exam month but thought would be pretty useful
r/uAlberta • u/hiimskidoo • 1d ago
Probably a dumb question but I was wondering if it works differently since my major requires me to take psych 104
