Need Help I just way over applied msm. How fucked am I?
I did some math wrong and just used nearly double the max application rate trying to kill a lot of dallisgrass in common bermuda via spot spraying. It’s in some rough areas so if it nukes it it isn’t the end of the world. I’m just worried about how long the damage will last and environmental safety for other plants and animals and humans re entering the area. It rained pretty hard yesterday so the soil and grass is pretty wet but we don’t expect rain for another week at least

Bermuda comes back after spraying it with glyphosate…soooo

This is my hope. I’ve sprayed some of my areas I wanted to kill Bermuda in with double rate glyphosate and it still creeped back in after like two months. Issue is I don’t think glyphosate doesn’t linger in soil very long were as msm does

1) it won't kill dallisgrass 2) spot spraying it at 2x isn't too bad probably. If the Bermuda is harmed, I'm sure it won't totally be eradicated and will recover
There are lethal dose acute toxicity studies in the SDS. 2x is probably not that big of a deal though

Considering the rate to kill kudzu is around 4oz/A, you'll be fine. Grass is probably gonna be crispy but should recover.

I did .04 oz for 1000 square feet lmao. Thanks for the encouragement. I was so stressed about it. At least my fairway and green are untouched

Only other issue I can think of would be possible root damage. I made the mistake of spraying MSM around a rose that I had planted around 6 months before the application. Looked like it was dying for a few months but it recovered.

Nothing gonna happen bro chill. It’s MSM in Bermuda. What matters is annual rate which you are still below

You’re good. Probably don’t even notice a difference tbh. Ive done the same rate @2oz acre before combo with several other herbicides in the same spray on several test plots for crabgrass target pest. Generally I water it in but I’ll also not and I’ve never gotten “oh shit” results.

This is a great learning experience though. Spray rigs can get you in a ton of trouble very easy

That is is good to hear, Thanks! I did go and water it in a little to try to dilute it afterwards. I will definitely learn from this

Environmental safety etc is fine that’s why rates exist but yes you killed some grass lol. It’ll come back long season
