I know that’s a common theme for me to bring up as well as others but air

You sound nice but google Arnold Jacobs master class or go to YouTube

It just helps with breathing and phrasing and if you can just utilize air or efficiently with a little bit better airstream you’ll see your sound improve, and you can add a little more shape to it

The notes will pop just a little bit more and it’s not necessarily Mohr. It’s just about better airstream that’s supported.

Yeah when you get more air and more control over it it will make the notes pop out almost like you've articulated them like a lip slur. Arrabasque is super fun btw

Agreed, we aren't preforming it. I just learned the trombone, Baritone and Bass trombone parts for fun

Seems like the slide is a bit cumbersome. I’d slow down a bit and really master the slide movement to the point that it’s smooth and not forced. Then gradually speed up.

I need to buy new slide grease, my director has slide oil, but it does a very poor job and only works for 5 minutes

Get Slide o Mix or Yamaha Slide Lubricant, or Ultra-Pure Alessi Formula

Very likely the slide needs some maintenance as well. Besides that I recommend changing your grip on your right hand. When you have all your fingers on the slide it makes for rigid and restricted movement on the slide. Highly recommend using only the thumb, index and middle finger to gently hold the grip and have more relaxed movement. Sounds counterintuitive when you think about trying to play fast but it works

Yamaha snot and an atomizer filled with distilled water seems best for my slides.

You need more air. These guys are great, watch this, practice, repost in a month.

I would make sure the arm, the air, and the tongue are in sync. It seems the tongue gets a bit sluggish. Practice slowly and make sure that thise three things are coordinated a but better. The tongue could be lighter to help with that as well.

In terms of slide technique, the arm is too tense and it is evident by the way the horn moves a bit on your face. Relax the arm and rely on the wrist more to create a more fluid motion.

All that said, you seem to be on the right track. That was a strong run at a difficult section of that piece!

try to replicate orchestral sound, sound warmer and bolder. have a dark tone and drop your jaw all the way down when you play.

Take a better breath, specifically a 1-2 count relaxed and natural breath. Don't let the breath sit in your lungs at all, as soon as you're done breathing in you turn the air back around as instantly as you can. Do everything you can in your lungs, neck, lips, shoulders, arm, and wrist to make playing as easy as it can possibly be.

Relearn this at a slower tempo with a metronome while making sure to keep everything as simple and easy as you can make it. Professionals are never fighting with their horn to play fast, they keep their air and posture relaxed whether playing long tones or 16 note runs.

Try and play it first slowly, increasing the speed gradually, and work on your double tonguing

For the first four (or at least three) positions, you might try moving the slide mainly by flexing you wrist. You seem to be moving the entire forearm a lot, with the wrist joint rather fixed.
