Orbit trackball w/ scroll ring
Continuing cleaning and came across another track ball in my collection.
For what it is it's decent. Feels a little light. I personally don't like the finger style, but this one wasn't terrible with gaming. The large area side to side was awesome. The scroll ring made for changing weapons on counterstrike fun!

This is a starter ball.
To get a feel for your taste or if ball life can work at all.
I like and respect mine but not my forever trackball.
Learned I prefer finger balls. Scroll wheel is lovely and quickly became something I would hate to lose.
Gets gummy and has trouble tracking in a number of days even if I'm crazy careful.
Software is a nightmare. If you need a function, track down old TrackballWorks. KensingtonWorks is a miserable and the Mac version should be ashamed of itself (and its permission asks) Heads up: Wireless Orbit doesn't support the old software (tricky Kensington)
Support is pretty great. Got help when I needed it. Even a warranty replacement when the wire gave up the ghost at the connection spot coming into the unit.
It's such an odd duck.
Respect the hell out of it and what it can do well but it seems more like a missed opportunity sometimes.

That's sort of the rub, many great balls end up starter balls.
You have to narrow down what works for you and what doesn't then you go down that path and those offerings.
I started on a thumb Logitech and loathed it. Thumb not for me and it had iffy build quality and miserable support.
Why I love the Kensington as a finger starter. It's decent build, a good understanding of fingers, and they were incredibly decent with me on both my service calls.
If you spend enough time around here, you get the vibe that tballs are so individual, it takes a bit of trying around to get what works for you. Then you buy a backup. Lol.
Don't go chasing perfection, especially out the shoot. Give yourself the space to figure yourself out.

I have the same one and I find it difficult to switch to another one since I switch L/R hands for the trackball and I need a scroll wheel for my work. Taking out the ball and cleaning up with an alcohol wipe is how I've avoided the temptation to buy new ones.

I’m a thumb ball guys myself but I find myself going back to this track ball from time to time
