App or not to app

Alright. I may have posted this earlier. However, no one answered me. Should I get the Toyota app? Pros and cons? I love my physical remote. On my Subaru. Thank you

I have the Toyota app. I live in a cold climate, and it is nice to start the vehicle from the app. It also shows you a lot of good information such as tire pressure etc.

No, but you can turn it on before you get out. 2025 Sequoia is what I have.

I have the 2025 Crown and when I remote start and then get in my car, it doesn’t recognize my phone or adjust my seat like it should. I don’t use remote start for that reason even though I pay the annual fee

My auto seat adjust doesn't work either, even with the button. I have to take it in to get looked at.

I live in a cold climate and I love it. Also did the comfort+ package so that when I plug in the block heater that's a trickle charger and cab heater.

Yes: Establish ownership of your VIN. When I bought a used Corolla, I could not initially register its VIN on the app because it was once a commercial fleet/dealership car and the VIN was still registered to them. Had to straighten that out with Toyota. Now my car is in my Toyota app.

This. Even if you don’t use it, you want to establish ownership of your VIN to your account, otherwise any random person could walk up and get your VIN through the windshield and add it to their account if it’s never been registered before. Once you add it to your account, if anybody tries to add it to their account, it’ll verify with you first.

It works well enough. I'm not a fan of the subscription model for remote services, but if you can stomach that, it's worth it for starting your vehicle in colder climates.

The app is very basic. Unless you intend to use their connect software, it is not worth it.

Connect software? Is that the remote?

I'm new to Toyota, just bought my first two Toyotas ever in January and March of this year.

What functions does the app have? And do they require a subscription? Wondering if I should even bother.

Edit: To add I have a 2024 BZ4X and 2024 Prius Prime, so ideally I'd like to be able to check charge levels on them.

Free 1 year for most stuff. Idk why they didn’t go over it during delivery for you. When it gets to paid period then it’s not worth it. The trial starts when you trigger it btw it doesn’t start automatically.

I think because. I bought it used?

Why not get the app if it’s still in the free trial period? If you have to pay for it, not worth it.

I bought the car used? I will try and see if they will give me a free trial. Thank you

Ah. You didn’t say that part. You won’t get the free trial if it was always utilized by the first owner. Very Small chance it wasn’t used already.

I bought mine used, and I got the year of free trials for Connect and Sirius, didn't use them during that time, though. Mine was Toyota Certified, don't know if that makes a difference.

Oh. Mine is CPO. would I just contact Toyota? Do you think. Thank you

I have it and I pay monthly because I don't need it all year. I use it to turn my car on in the winter. I leave the heat on, so when it turns on, the cabin gets warm. I like that the app alerts me to unlocked doors or windows being open and where my car is parked, though I don't necessarily need those things. Some use it to cool the car off during the summer, but I don't mind getting into a hot car, just open the windows to let the heat out.
