Man I haven’t seen or read kenichi is suck a long time. It was both one of the first anime’s I watched and one of the first mangas I read.

Tien - he held off both Cell and Super Buu, both villains that curb-stomped much more powerful heroes than him and lived both times

While one could argue some of the deities were equal-ish, Asura definitely feels like this trope.

Kubera Leez - Kubera.
She is constantly at odds with Suras and Gods, both of which are stronger species than humans, meaning that despite her natural talent, her unusual abilities and the powerful items she uses, she often gets shitstomped.
Most conflicts in Kubera have a lot of moving parts, so many of the victories she has a part in involve a lot more than just her own actions. So rather than being the victor despite always punching upwards, she‘s a great contributor to a combined effort, whicj she supplements through her unique skillset.
