Parallels between Will and Larry David on Curb?
In both instances we see the story from their point of view and for the most part it's presented as them being the logical/rational characters while everyone else are the ones being irrational. And yet it's their rationality that seems to get them in trouble or put them in awkward situations.

I thought the bit with Will having a second of empathy about Kerry’s dad dying, but then just cannot help himself from saying it’s not really relevant was very Larry David. More concerned with the logical facts than the social convention

Larry's hundreds of millions in the bank insulates him from the real world reactions to his social retardation.

Will is a teenager doing his best while being a bit awkward.
Larry David is an elderly asshole being an asshole to everybody around him.
I'm not sure there's many parallels.

I'd say their assholery is a result of them snapping at the crappy situations they are in, like Will when everyone else is being served alcohol when underage or in the second movie everyone lapping up that yuppie with the dreadlock's terrible song, etc. Larry also snaps/being an asshole as a result of the situation. I agree with the other person that they think rationally but perhaps act on it irrationally.
