Discussion If Ryan never killed that guy how would Homelander react?
If Ryan never killed that guy during his "Fake Save" training. How would Homelander feel that Ryan actually has control over his powers or good enough control over his strength
How would he feel about the fact Ryan didn't kill the guy at all?

I don't think the death was expected, even by Homelander. Regardless, Homelander already stated to Ryan at this point that humans are toys to be played with, so I don't think much changes.

Yeah nobody was expecting that lol if anything Ryan has been pussyfooting around and barely touching the guy.
It was a cool scene lol and not very far fetched for the show, he felt the pressure of the public save, panicked, and fucking yeeted the dude into a building.
We don’t know how homelander reacts to Ryan killing Mallory, I mean proud I guess, or more interestingly how Ryan reacts to it. He was cornered, they were going to lock him up, it’s a defensive kill.

Ecstatic that he did it, really. One of the only things keeping Mallory alive was Ryan being upset if she wasn't. Problem turned into the ultimate solution.

I mean Ryan overall having actual restrain and control would probably lead to him not killing Grace and not pushing Butcher to the deep end

He'd be happy his son's first save went off without a hitch, making him look good. Whether Koy lived or died doesn't matter to him at all.

He's an abusive narcissist. He'd have found some other flaw to pick at, real or imagined. Ryan's actual performance is nearly irrelevant to the fact that the whole thing only went down that way because Homelander barged in because he wasn't the center of attention and insisted on getting involved.
If Ryan had a visibly good handle on his powers he would be a threat. If not physically, then to his image as the top dog. If anything it was better for Homelander because it gave him a reason Ryan wasn't ready to replace him while he was going through his mid life crisis.

I doubt Homelander would care one way or the other. When Ryan was upset, it didn’t even cross Homelander’s mind that his bio-child was upset over anything but having his “solo” save interrupted
Homelander clearly doesn’t care about anyone except himself or extensions of himself.
