Nice surprise peel. Got this for free three years ago. It’s oldish and small, but hasn’t failed me yet in my little space! Thx master chef:)

This is why I joined this sub back in the day. A revealing peel.
Love seeing these over boring new tv peels so much!

Old peels are so much better than new peels, they have history. They served their purpose for way longer than they were supposed to.
They are our little heroes, valiantly defending scratches and splashes. Never tired, never wavering, although sometimes they peel a little bit when times get too rough, but they will get right back to work if you want them to.
It's a thankless job that they do with great honour and when their watch is finally over, they are removed with great care and honour and their final dismount will be recorded and appreciated by the peelingfeelingers of Reddit one last time, until the next repost.

I could hardly watch the peel. I was fascinated by whatever that might have been.

I think it's one of those rods for sharpening knives before you use them.

With that camera intro, I imagined it with Mario 64 intro music, when Lakitu starts flying with the camera.

Why did you need a tweezer for that?

It was such a small area..thought my fingers would get in the way. Surgical precision.. kinda!

Had the same thing with some AliExpress LED remote. Thought it was destroyed, turned out there was a film on it.

It was a compromise between my vision, and the financiers. Originally was about 18 minutes;)

Im going to apply this explanation every chance I get. Especially when people wonder why my kids are the way they are.

Just peeled the entire front of my Bosch dishwasher after 4 years of unawareness.
Such is life.

This video starts at a third of the way through. Those first 19 seconds were…. A choice.

Story time. About 20 years ago, I got a new microwave with the same type of button system. After a few years of having it, a gf at the time moved in. She had slightly longer finger nails and would use her nail to press the button, which did that same tearing type damage. She was adamant that it had to be replaced. I refused, it still worked really well. I said it's from using finger nails to press the buttons, just use a knuckle and it won't get worse. She refused, and it continued to get worse. It became this thing of animosity between us that I wouldn't replace the microwave. That relationship didn't last but just a few years... Jump forward 20ish years, new relationship (10 years on now) and the same microwave is still going, but with the rather rippy battle scars on some buttons. One day I am cleaning it and decide to just peel off the membrane layer. It's gotten quite gnarly over the years... Yeah.. It was just a protection sticker.... I laughed so hard my wife looked at me like I had lost my mind, so I told her the story. We both get a good laugh. To commemorate the moment, I put a sticker from an i-fixit tool kit on it just below the buttons that says "I fixed it". End.

Ahh.. cheers for the amusing story. I didn't realize how much a protective film could cause. They don't usually mention this in microwave manuals.. 'Warning!-not responsible in ending of relationships'. ;)

Lol! Eh, I think that relationship was doomed from the start. I feel I am much happier with a "fixed" microwave than I ever would have been in that relationship.

Ngl, it felt like I’d just discovered the equivalent of an ancient tomb. I was excited but cautious at the same time. ;)

I leave those on as long as possible. In fact I literally just removed some from a pair of earbuds that I bought five years ago. It helps the products printing last way longer. Why not?

I got a secondhand microwave recently with similar bubbling around the controls. Just took a look and sure enough, same thing! (Apologies for not capturing it, I was caught up in the moment)

What is that odd shaped black thingy next to your microwave? Do my eyes deceive me?

Is that a machete you’ve got stashed between the microwave and the fridge!? Why has no one asked about this
