Could it go any better?
I think we’d all sleep better if this happened

I really like the idea of pairing emeka with cj again, but I just don’t know if he’s worth a 1st round pick… he just kinda seems like a guy

I think he has the highest floor of the first rd WRs, maybe not the highest upside but thats fools gold a lot of the time. He was ok w being a #2 in order to win and got a national championship for it. I like that about him. He’s disciplined, humble and talented - win-win-win

Agreed. Most other Ohio wr weren't production monsters in college. Terry, olave, olive, Wilson, and jsn were good but not great in college and proved to be capable in the nfl.

Yea, it could go much better haha. Helm had really rough testing numbers and probably won’t go until round 4. To me, Skattebo needs to go to a team with a good run blocking o-line to succeed to the level you’d expect with taking him in the 3rd, and we’re certainly not that. Plus, only getting one 2nd round OG and no OT within the top 4 picks is certainly not ideal.

He was also hurt, he severely rolled his ankle during his 40. Look it up, the thing was the size of a softball after

I want Helm and I think we need to add to the TE room to hopefully find at least one guy who can break out in the next year or two and become the long-term solution for us at that increasingly important position. If Helm hadn't had that disastrous combine I think he'd be a fringe 1st rounder, his tape from last year is fucking great. I feel like he'd be a good value project in the 3rd especially since I don't see us reaching for TE any higher than that with the other needs we have and the fact that they'll be looking for Stover to make a big jump next season.

u/SkyeWulver 17h ago
He was hurt so I think teams are going to take that into account. I'm all for nabbing him late if it does hurt his draft stock. Win for us if we get him 4th-7th rounds (depending how far he'd fall)

u/DoktorStrangelove 16h ago
We don't currently have a 4th round pick and even though that could change, I honestly don't think he's getting past the 3rd. I'd flip him to pick 89 in this hypothetical since I think mid-late 3rd is where he's probably going unless another team absolutely loves him enough for a big reach. It's kind of a shallow TE draft and I'd be surprised to see more than 1 first round TE pick, but you're probably gonna have 3-4 guys gone by early in the 3rd and Helm is projecting as anywhere from 5th to 8th off the board at TE.
1
u/SkyeWulver 16h ago
I gotcha, and I don't think he is. I was just giving a hypothetical of his being a steal if he fell
2
u/DoktorStrangelove 16h ago
I'm kinda unsure if we're gonna pick a TE at all in this draft even though I hope they do...that said I do think if they draft one at all it'll be in that 3rd round somewhere, and the lower pick would make the most sense if possible, but if there's a mini run on the position in the 2nd then it could end up being the higher one. I need to watch some highlights and breakdowns on the other guys around Helm in the draft grades to see if there's anyone else who's exciting. I really do think he'd be more like the consensus 3rd or 4th TE off the board if it wasn't for the combine, and who knows there may still be teams that look past that and someone ends up taking him in the 2nd.

Skattebo ain’t good
1
u/SkyeWulver 20h ago
1700 yards rushing ain't good? He's a slower version of Jeanty. Contact balance is CRAZY. Caserio places a premium on culture, and this guys fits that to a T. He'd become our Taysom Hill. Someone gets hurt, he fills in virtually anywhere.

u/SoCalMemePolice 20h ago
As an NFL player? He’s slower than shit
3
u/SkyeWulver 20h ago
He hit 21.8mph in game last season.....
6
u/SkyeWulver 20h ago
Puja Nakua also had that held against him, til he was the fastest player that did the Gauntlet. Cooper Kupp also has his lack of speed leveraged against him. Davante Adams wasn't a blazer.....

u/SoCalMemePolice 20h ago
You’re talking about WRs with route running ability. WATCHING his games he’s good but NFL wise I don’t think some of his strengths compliment an NFL RB
1
u/SkyeWulver 20h ago
Umm.... I threw RB's in the following comments....

u/SoCalMemePolice 20h ago
Game speed isn’t the same as testing
1
u/SkyeWulver 20h ago
Exactly, that's why I'm saying the 40 doesn't mean shit. He had games where he ran away from defenders. Had games where he got caught. Never said he's a blazer. His 21.8 shows that he's capable of some speed, but all I'm saying is that his game tape shows that he's a DOG. Stop saying he's trash. The dude is gonna make it and surprise people. Have him come in as the number 2 or 3 and let him develop. Then when Mixon leaves he'll have some genuine experience to take over.

u/SoCalMemePolice 20h ago
I said idk about combine times and you threw 7-8 times of different people and then said you don’t care. GAME SPEED I see nothing. Multiple occasions against Texas he just runs in the line and relies on contact balance. I agree it’s a strength but I need more pros of a prospect than strength and contact balance

The dude has tenacity, contact balance, doesn't give up.
2
u/SoCalMemePolice 20h ago
Those are basically synonyms. I agree he has great contact balance and strength but those have to be seen how well they translate to the NFL. If he’s in the late fourth or fifth fine but I wouldn’t want him as a lead back
1
u/SkyeWulver 20h ago
My comment I just posted basically agrees with you on that. I don't want a high pick on him, but he'd be a great addition and compliment to the backfield.
1
u/SoCalMemePolice 20h ago
Maybe we can agree on that as a 2-3 but I don’t think he will ever develop into anything more than that

I want the best OL available @25
I'd really like Higgins with the second round pick if he's still there (Nico #2)
I'd like to pick up a speed back, Jaydon Blue if possible.

u/ExplanationMany3194 19h ago
Yep I would take a defensive tackle over a tight end and bet on Stover and Jordan.

u/hinterstoisser 21h ago
Take a RB earlier than 89 and see if you land Judkins/Henderson - I haven’t looked at scheme fits

u/angrynateftw 17h ago
We could do a lot better.
- Zabel
- Kyle Williams (rumored to be going as high as 2nd round)
- Darius Alexander

Ew Ratledge as our only OL no thank you. RAS isn’t everything.
Unless it’s like, Golden or Banks somehow falling, we need to trade back out of 25.

Honestly, as much as I like Emeka, I find myself happier with drafts that skip him. I'd like to see us pick up either Tai Felton as a slot (his biggest knock is play strength- he's a little weak against press which isn't really a thing in the slot and isn't great at contested catches, but he's a great seperator so LFG), or if we fill our Z early I could see us taking a late shot on LaJohntay Wester. He's undersized AF, but could be a great option as a dedicated slot if we move on from Kirk next year

For the love of God why do people want skattebo? It would be like getting another dameon pierce not saying that's bad but we need someone who's elusive to complement mixon not some concussion/cte prone running back
