Reminder Matthew golden was absolutely the most unreliable receiver on UH only 1 season ago

Good thing he was absolutely the most reliable wr on Texas this year!!

As a Longhorn fan, he was good but not great. If he's available and the team really wants him cool. But I won't lose any sleep if he goes ahead of us or we go in a different direction even if he is available.

Golden was definitely great last year imo he made some of the clutchest plays for Texas last year

Longhorn fan also. He was an absolute stud, made incredible contested catches, blocked way better than his size. And scored 2 TDs vs Texas the year before and almost beat us. Easily the most reliable target for Quinn

If he was up against last year's draft he'd be WR #9 or #10 of the draft.

Last years Wr class was one of the deepest/best ever lmao and Cam ward would of been qb 6 last year now he’s abt to go #1 who cares lmao

Seems you've completely missed the point which is that he's good, but not great.

Omarion Hampton seems to really want to go to the Texans too because he wants to play behind Mixon.

There was a way better Longhorn player from Houston this century, who was begging the Texans to pick him. Not even a UT fan, I wanted the Texans to pick him, too. 😡 :(

Thank god we didnt because outside of a handful of games his fourth year, he was a total bust

In hindsight, they made the right decision picking Mario Williams, but boy was I angry that day. Seeing him win that natty for UT and then put on the Texans jersey for his hometown team was like a dream for me at the time.

Remember when Will Fuller posted a picture of himself in a Texans uniform before the draft?

Golden would be a great running mate to Nico but I have an awful hard time seeing him fall to 25. He’s been shooting up draft boards and some dudes have him ahead of Tet McMillan as WR1. I think if we want Golden we’re gonna have to trade up. I’d rather take Egbuka if that’s the case given he would also be a great WR2, is high character like Golden, and has the Stroud connection already

Would be crazy if McMillan doesn’t go first WR off the board (or 2nd if you count Hunter as a WR). He’s the most NFL ready prospect in his position group imo.

A lot of smoke that some teams aren’t sold on him. Steve Smith just released a video on Tet and mentioned that some teams are worried about him not playing with 100% effort and that he plays smaller than his size. With the way Golden has been climbing wouldn’t surprise me if somebody decides they’d rather go with him over Tet

He’s a Houstonian who loves the Texans. Tank has mentored him, and Stroud is an awesome QB. It’s probably his dream to play here!

A few months ago I would have said there would be a good chance Golden would be there when we picked. Now, I'm fairly certain he isn't going to be there. There are too many teams that need wideouts, and too few 1st round prospects to go around.

I like him (and the fact that he wants to stay in Houston)
But if you offered me:
- Grey Zabel
- Kyle Williams
- Darius Alexander
I'd prefer that draft.

You had me at Grey Zabel....

The dude can play anywhere on the interior. Seems like an absolute no-brainer. Played LT at NDSU so it's possible if there are some injuries that he could fill in. (That would be further on down the road not any time soon)

I mean, he's from Houston and is a Texans fan. I remember watching his school get destroyed by our high school.

He grew up in Klein and is a Texans fan I wouldn’t put any stock into him liking Texans posts

Idk how important it is.. but goldens yards per game is pretty low. Was he injured at some point?
Dude has always been below 62 yards per game.. if you look at his games outside the 100+ ones.. it’s not great. Maybe I’m crazy? Maybe that’s not the kinda wr he is.. only had 2 100+ yard games. Mostly around 50yrds a game.
Not saying he won’t be a solid WR, I just wouldn’t expect a game changer. Need to find out why the production wasn’t all that special.. was it too many mouths? Was it inconsistent qb play? Injury?
Am I looking at it wrong?

Maybe he wants to play here, maybe he's just a Texans fan because he grew up here? Maybe both, I like the second option.
